Purpose: The purpose of this article was to investigate the relationship between speech error variability and phonological awareness.
Method: This article begins with a narrative review of the theoretical interpretation of speech error variability. The post hoc exploratory analysis of the relationship between speech error variability and phonological awareness included 40 children: 20 with typical speech and language and 20 with speech sound disorder and typical language. Groups were matched on gender, age, maternal education, receptive and expressive vocabulary, nonverbal intelligence, and expressive morphosyntax. Multiple regression was used to identify the best fit model for the relationship between vocabulary, speech errors, and phonological awareness.
Results: Segmental variability was associated with poor phonological awareness in preschool-aged children.
Conclusion: Children with high levels of segmental variability have poor phonological awareness, likely due to unstable phonological representations.

Single-sided deafness (SSD), where there is severe to profound hearing loss in one ear and normal hearing in the other, is a prevalent auditory condition that significantly impacts the quality of life for those affected. The ability to accurately localize sound sources is crucial for various everyday activities, including speech communication and environmental awareness. In recent years, bone conduction intervention has emerged as a promising solution for patients with SSD, offering a non-invasive alternative to traditional air conduction hearing aids.

Background: The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the current shortage of speech-language pathologists in Thailand have limited access to speech services for children with cleft palate with or without cleft lip (CP± L). A combination of telepractice (TP) and face-to-face therapy could address the lack of continuous service and improve accessibility to speech therapy providers. This study aimed to compare the percentage of consonants correct (PCC) before and after speech therapy in children with CP± L.

Previous studies have identified attenuated pre-speech activity and speech sound suppression in individuals with Schizophrenia, with similar patterns observed in basic tasks entailing button-pressing to perceive a tone. However, it remains unclear whether these patterns are uniform across individuals or vary from person to person. Motivated by electroencephalographic (EEG) data from a Schizophrenia study, we develop a generalized functional linear mixed model (GFLMM) for repeated measurements by incorporating subject-specific functional random effects associated with multiple functional predictors.

Cyclic voltammetry (CV) has been a powerful technique to provide impactful insights for electrochemical systems, including reaction mechanism, kinetics, diffusion coefficients, etc., in various fields of study, notably energy storage and energy conversion. However, the separation between the faradaic current component of CV and the nonfaradaic current contribution to extract useful information remains a major issue for researchers.
