Psoriasis is a predominantly Th17 cell-driven chronic autoinflammatory skin disorder. Brevilin A, a natural sesquiterpene lactone extracted from , has been used as a traditional oriental medicine for allergic diseases for centuries. However, the effects of brevilin A on psoriasis have yet to be established. In this study, we investigated brevilin A to elucidate its potential effects on T cell activities in psoriasis, in animal models and patients. An imiquimod (IMQ)-induced psoriasis-like dermatitis murine model was utilized. Experimental mice were administered different doses of brevilin A (5, 10, 20 mg/kg respectively) for a duration of 5 days. Cutaneous manifestations were measured daily. Under hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) stain and immunohistochemistry (IHC), acanthosis and proinflammatory cytokine expression in the dorsal skin of mice were detected. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used for the measurement of IL-17A levels in serum samples. Naïve CD4+ T cells, isolated from mice spleen and lymph nodes and from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of psoriatic patients, were used to evaluate the effects of brevilin A on Th17 differentiation. In brevilin A-treated mice, brevilin A significantly reduced skin redness and scaling; acanthosis as well as IL-6, IL-17A, and ki-67 expressions were downregulated in the dorsal skin, and serum levels of IL-17A were lowered. Brevilin A also inhibited Th17 differentiation. In conclusion, brevilin A demonstrated significant capability in ameliorating skin inflammation in IMQ-induced psoriasis-like dermatitis and could modulate Th17 differentiation. Therefore, brevilin A is potentially pharmacologically effective in the treatment of psoriasis.

Background: The pleural cavity represents a unique immunological compartment that can mount inflammatory reactions during infections, after surgery and in chronic immunological diseases. The connection between systemic immune reactions in the blood and local immune reactions in pleural effusions remains unclear. This study provides the first comprehensive immunological characterization of paired blood and pleural effusion samples, utilizing combined cell and cytokine analyses in pediatric patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

Keratinocytes exosome participates in the pathogenesis of psoriasis and exosomes always carry long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) into target cells to function as an essential immune regulator in psoriasis-related diseases. LncRNA LOC285194 is closely associated with the occurrence of psoriasis. However, whether keratinocyte exosomal LOC285194 participates in the process of psoriasis remains vague.

Objective: To investigate serum TL1A levels and their correlation with Th17 cells, IL-17, and IL-21 in children with Graves' disease (GD).
Methods: Thirty-seven children (12 males and 25 females) aged 9-14 years with newly diagnosed and untreated GD were enrolled in this study. Serum TL1A, IL-17, and IL-21 levels were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

The intraprostatic inflammatory infiltrate is characterized by Th1 CD4 T cells, and its molecular mechanism is not well defined. This study explored the mechanisms responsible for the alteration of Th1/Th17 differentiation of CD4 T cells in chronic non-bacterial prostatitis (CNP). CNP rats were induced by the administration of testosterone and 17β-estradiol.

Misshapen/NIKs-related kinase (MINK) 1 belongs to the mammalian germinal center kinase (GCK) family. It contains the N-terminal, conserved kinase domain, a coiled-coil region, a proline-rich region, and a GCK, C-terminal domain with the Citron-NIK-Homology (CNH) domain. The kinase is an essential component of cellular signaling pathways, which include Wnt signaling, JNK signaling, pathways engaging Ras proteins, the Hippo pathway, and STRIPAK complexes.
