Benralizumab is an anti-IL-5 receptor alpha monoclonal antibody that induces the near-complete depletion of eosinophils. This study aimed to evaluate the long-term safety and effectiveness of benralizumab in patients with severe eosinophilic asthma (SEA) over an extended 48-month follow-up period, offering one of the longest real-world perspectives available. This was a single-arm, retrospective, observational, multicenter study involving 123 SEA patients treated with benralizumab at a dosage of 30 mg every 4 weeks for the first 3 doses and then every 8 weeks.

Thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) is a type I cytokine that promotes allergic responses and mediates type 2 immunity. A balance between effector T cells (T), which drive the immune response, and regulatory T cells (T), which suppress the response, is required for proper immune homeostasis. Here, we report that TSLP differentially acts on T versus T to balance type 2 immunity.

Anti-interleukin-5 (IL-5), anti-IL-5 receptor and anti-interleukin-4 (IL-4) have emerged as potential treatments for severe eosinophilic asthma, yet their role in treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is unclear. A literature review was conducted up to May 31, 2024. Only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the clinical efficacy and adverse effects of biological treatment (anti-IL-5/ anti-IL-5 receptor /anti-IL-4) in COPD patients were included in this meta-analysis.

Cytokines are small proteins that are critical for controlling the growth and activity of hematopoietic cells by binding to cell surface receptors and transmitting signals across membranes. The β common (βc) cytokine receptor family, consisting of the granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), interleukin (IL)-3, and IL-5 cytokine receptors, is an architype of the heterodimeric cytokine receptor systems. We now know that signaling by cytokine receptors is not always an "all or none" phenomenon.

Background: Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) is a disease resulting from an overactive type 2 response to . Initial studies suggest that asthma biologics can effectively treat ABPA, but it is unclear which biologic class is superior.
Objective: We sought to compare the effectiveness of asthma biologics in the treatment of ABPA.
