Two key series of discoveries about the hippocampus are described. One is the discovery of hippocampal spatial view cells in primates. This discovery opens the way to a much better understanding of human episodic memory, for episodic memory prototypically involves a memory of where people or objects or rewards have been seen in locations "out there" which could never be implemented by the place cells that encode the location of a rat or mouse.

The accurate prediction of uneven rock mass classes is crucial for intelligent operation in tunnel-boring machine (TBM) tunneling. However, the classification of rock masses presents significant challenges due to the variability and complexity of geological conditions. To address these challenges, this study introduces an innovative predictive model combining the improved EWOA (IEWOA) and the light gradient boosting machine (LightGBM).

Utility as-built plans, which typically provide information about underground utilities' position and spatial locations, are known to comprise inaccuracies. Over the years, the reliance on utility investigations using an array of sensing equipment has increased in an attempt to resolve utility as-built inaccuracies and mitigate the high rate of accidental underground utility strikes during excavation activities. Adapting data fusion into utility engineering and investigation practices has been shown to be effective in generating information with improved accuracy.

Key Laboratory of Fluid and Power Machinery, Xihua University, Ministry of Education, Chengdu, 610039, China.

The construction of underground cavern groups represents a particularly challenging task in current subsurface engineering due to a multitude of variable and often unknown factors, including diverse geological conditions. This study introduces a four-dimensional spatiotemporal model and formulates a dynamic safety information model for these underground systems. Developed using C# and Python, the model integrates the finite element analysis software ABAQUS and Microsoft SQL Server database.
