We describe the case of a 9-month-old boy presenting with isolated intermittent vertical eye movements most in keeping with upward saccadic pulses, a form of saccadic intrusions. Full-field electroretinogram was consistent with a generalized retinal dystrophy, and genetic testing revealed a hemizygous pathogenic mutation in the CACNA1F gene, confirming the diagnosis of incomplete congenital stationary night blindness (iCSNB). This case describes vertical saccadic pulses as the sole presenting sign of a retinal dystrophy.

Background: L-dopa (LD) effects on visually guided saccades (VGS) have been poorly investigated in de novo Parkinson's disease (PD) patients through a standardized acute challenge test.
Objectives: To assess the acute saccadic effects of LD as well as possible different patterns of VGS response to LD in a consistent population of de novo PD.
Methods: VGS were assessed among de novo PD at baseline and 2 h after the administration of LD/carbidopa 250/25 mg.
The lateral intraparietal cortex (LIP) located within the posterior parietal cortex (PPC) is an important area for the transformation of spatial information into accurate saccadic eye movements. Despite extensive research, we do not fully understand the functional anatomy of intended movement directions within LIP. This is in part due to technical challenges.

A 65-years-old female was hospitalized 24 h after experiencing the sudden onset of subjective reduction in visual acuity and hypersomnia. On admission to the neurological ward, she presented isolated downgaze palsy. A Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the brain disclosed a discrete, ovalar hyperintensity involving the left paramedian thalamic-mesencephalon junction.

Objective: We describe an uncharacteristic vestibular-ocular reflex (VOR) pattern, studied by video head impulse tests (VHIT) in patients suffering from unilateral isolated posterior semicircular canal (PSC) hypofunction. In these patients, we found an upward sliding of the eyes, followed by an oblique downward catch-up saccade during horizontal head impulse to the healthy side.
Methods: We present a retrospective study of all VHIT exams presenting isolated PSC hypofunction between May 2020 and November 2022.

With every saccadic eye movement, humans bring new information into their fovea to be processed with high visual acuity. Notably, perception is enhanced already before a relevant item is foveated: During saccade preparation, shifts to the upcoming fixation location, which can be measured via behavioral correlates such as enhanced visual performance or modulations of sensory feature tuning. The coupling between saccadic eye movements and attention is assumed to be robust and mandatory and considered a mechanism facilitating the integration of pre- and postsaccadic information.
