Background: The risk of cardiovascular disease in patients with inflammatory joint diseases is very high and rheumatologists need to screen their patients for this risk. A number of screening tools have been used in this patient population. Objective was to compare the cardiovascular risk assessment in patients with inflammatory joint diseases using QRISK®2 and Reynolds Risk Score.

Methods: Four hundred and one patients with inflammatory joint diseases were enrolled via consecutive non probability sampling. Their future cardiovascular disease risk was calculated via the QRISK®2 and Reynolds Risk Scores. The resulting scores were analyzed for any correlation.

Results: There was no significant correlation between the scores obtain via both risk assessment tools (p>0.05).

Background: Osteoarthritis is the prevailing form of inflammatory condition in joints of adults and the aging population, leading to long-term disability and chronic pain. Current therapeutic options have variable therapeutic efficacy and/or several side effects.

Methods: A randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical trial was conducted in 62 participants using a nutraceutical [standardized Boswellia serrata Roxb.

Complete blood count indices and their ratios are associated with adverse clinical outcomes for many acute illnesses, but the mechanisms generating these associations are not fully understood. Recent identification of a consistent pattern of white blood cell and platelet count co-regulation during acute inflammatory recovery provides a potentially unifying explanation. Here we show that the platelet-to-white-cell ratio, which was selected based on this conserved recovery pattern, is more strongly associated with mortality than other blood count markers and ratios in four important illnesses involving acute inflammation: COVID-19, acute heart failure, myocardial infarction, and stroke.

[Indications and limitations of conservative and invasive treatment of the inflammatory shoulder joint and the shoulder girdle].

An inflammatory rheumatic shoulder can be assessed as a forgotten joint. Apparent problems and deformities of the hands and feet are prioritized in the perception of rheumatic patients. In contrast, however, involvement of the shoulder joint in the context of an inflammatory rheumatic disease is very high with up to 85% [2].

Chronic inflammatory diseases show significant heterogeneity in their phenotypes, with diverse immune cells and mediators interacting in response to various stimuli. This review proposes the concept of the 'inflammazone' framework - which maps the distribution of immune components driving disease pathogenesis - using sarcoidosis and psoriasis as examples. Sarcoidosis features granulomatous inflammation with macrophages and CD4 T cells, which can spread to lymph nodes and other organs.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most affected joint disease worldwide, touching millions of people every year. It is caused by a progressive degeneration of articular cartilage, causing pain and limited mobility. Among the pathways involved in cartilage homeostasis, "LOX" proteins (referring to three distinct protein families, very often confused in the literature) play a prominent role.
