The global dynamics in a variety of biological processes can be revealed by mapping transcriptional mA sites, in particular full-transcriptome mA. And individual mA sites have contributed to biological function, which can be evaluated by stoichiometric information obtained from the single nucleotide resolution. Currently, the identification of mA sites is mainly carried out by experiment and prediction methods, based on high-throughput sequencing and machine learning model respectively. This review summarizes the recent topics and progress made in bioinformatics methods of deciphering the mA methylation, including the experimental detection of mA methylation sites, techniques of data analysis, the way of predicting mA methylation sites, mA methylation databases, and detection of mA modification in circRNA. At the end, the essay makes a brief discussion for the development perspective in this area.

Maternal hormones can profoundly impact offspring physiology and behaviour in sex-dependent ways. Yet little is known about the molecular mechanisms linking these maternal effects to offspring phenotypes. DNA methylation, an epigenetic mechanism, is suggested to facilitate maternal androgens' effects.

Distortions in the porphyrin core from planarity can trigger a unique structure-property relationship, imparting its basicity, chemical stability, redox potential, and excited-state energetics, among other properties. The colour change promoted by such distortion is signed by red shifts in its electronic absorption spectra. The adsorption of guest -substituted free-base porphyrin species onto inorganic hosts, such as clay minerals (layered aluminium or magnesium silicates), is known to further promote colour changes.

Current clinical testing approaches for individuals with suspected imprinting disorders are complex, often requiring multiple tests performed in a stepwise fashion to make a precise molecular diagnosis. We investigated whether whole-genome long-read sequencing (LRS) could be used as a single data source to simultaneously evaluate copy number variants (CNVs), single nucleotide variants (SNVs), structural variants (SVs), and differences in methylation in a cohort of individuals known to have either Prader-Willi or Angelman syndrome. We evaluated 25 individuals sequenced to an average depth of coverage of 36x on an Oxford Nanopore PromethION.

DNA methylation at age-related CpG (AR-CpG) sites holds significant promise for forensic age estimation. However, somatic models perform poorly in semen due to unique methylation dynamics during spermatogenesis, and current studies are constrained by the limited coverage of methylation microarrays. This study aimed to identify novel semen-specific AR-CpG sites using double-enzyme reduced representation bisulfite sequencing (dRRBS) and validate these markers, alongside previously reported sites and neighboring CpGs, using bisulfite amplicon sequencing (BSAS) to develop robust age estimation models.

Polymer nanoparticles with low curvature, especially two-dimensional (2D) soft materials, are rich in functions and outstanding properties and have received extensive attention. Crystallization-driven self-assembly (CDSA) of linear semicrystalline block copolymers is currently a common method of constructing 2D platelets of uniform size. Although accompanied by high controllability, this CDSA method usually and inevitably requires a longer aging time and lower assembly concentration, limiting the large-scale preparation of nanoaggregates.
