Published: December 2022

In recent years, graphene has shown great application prospects in tunable microwave devices due to its tunable conductivity. However, the electromagnetic (EM) properties of graphene, especially the dynamic tunning characteristics, are largely dependent on experimental results, and thus are unable to be effectively predicted according to growth parameters, which causes great difficulties in the design of graphene-based tunable microwave devices. In this work, we systematically explored the impact of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) parameters on the dynamic tunning range of graphene. Firstly, through improving the existing waveguide method, the dynamic tunning range of graphene can be measured more accurately. Secondly, a direct mathematical model between growth parameters and the tunning range of graphene is established. Through this, one can easily obtain needed growth parameters for the desired tunning range of graphene. As a verification, a frequency tunable absorber prototype is designed and tested. The good agreement between simulation and experimental results shows the reliability of our mathematic model in the rapid design of graphene-based tunable microwave devices.

The tolerance advantages of nanobodies (Nbs) provide a new proposal for enhancing the stability and sensitivity of immunosensors. However, the tolerance of Nbs to extreme pH levels, has not been deeply investigated, as previous stability studies on Nbs had primarily focused on temperature and organic solvents. Here, a nanobody clone (NbFM5) is obtained and its tolerance is analyzed using molecular simulation and molecular docking.

A sub-kHz-linewidth broadband-swept fiber laser using Rayleigh scattering-based Brillouin random lasing oscillation is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. Benefiting from Brillouin-involved acoustic damping and arbitrary-wavelength distributed Rayleigh feedback, leveraging instantaneously tuning Brillouin gain spectrum induced by a frequency-sweeping pump, a highly coherent random lasing emission with cavity mode elimination as well as frequency noise suppression is achieved in a sweeping manner. Results show that the proposed sweeping Stokes laser with a two-order-magnitude compressed linewidth of 840 Hz and 20 dB frequency noise suppression can unprecedentedly operate over the maximum wavelength range of 16 nm.

Study of Manipulative In Situ Pore-Formation upon Polymeric Coating on Cylindrical Substrate for Sustained Drug Delivery.

Macromol Biosci

December 2024

Department of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering, Ningbo University, Ningbo, 315211, China.

Herein, the micro-porous polylactic acid coating applied on the surface of the cylindrical substrate is fabricated by a novel in situ pore-formation strategy based on the combinational effect of breath figure (BF) and vapor-induced phase separation (VIPS) processes. Under the condition of high environmental humidity, solvent pair of chloroform and dimethylformamide is employed for post-treatment onto pre-formed PLA coating to induce the pore-formation following the mechanism of BF and VIPS, respectively. A composite porous structure with both cellular-like and bi-continuous network morphologies is obtained.

Department of Mechanical Engineering, City University of Hong Kong, 83 Tat Chee Avenue, Hong Kong. Electronic address:

Ti-MXene allows a range of possibilities to tune their compositional stoichiometry due to their electronic and electrochemical properties. Other than conventionally explored Ti-MXene, there have been ample opportunities for the non-Ti-based MXenes, especially the emerging Mo-based MXenes. Mo-MXenes are established to be remarkable with optoelectronic and electrochemical properties, tuned energy, catalysis, and sensing applications.
