In this paper, the element nitrogen (N) is used to partially replace the element nickel (Ni) in flux-cored wire. A 44%Ni-24%Cr-0.18N nitrogen-containing low-nickel flux-cored wire with excellent corrosion resistance is prepared. The corrosion behavior of nitrogen-containing low-nickel weld cladding and Inconel 625 weld cladding in 40 KCl + 60 MgCl (wt%) molten salt at 900 °C is studied. The results show that the selective dissolution of Cr occurs in both weld claddings. The corrosion resistance of the 44%Ni-24%Cr-0.18N nitrogen-containing low-nickel weld cladding is better than that of the Inconel 625 weld cladding. The reason is that added N can react with H in molten salt to generate NH4+, remove corrosive impurities of MgOH in molten salt and change the corrosion environment. N preferentially combines with Cr to form CrN, reduces the diffusion precipitation of Cr and improves the corrosion resistance.

Microstructure and deformation properties of both unaged and aged cladding material were studied at 400 °C for 10,000 h. The results indicated that carbide formation occurred in the cladding material, while thermal aging treatment resulted in spinodal decomposition and G-phase formation in the aged ferrite phase. Furthermore, intensive straight slip bands formed in both unaged and aged austenite phases.

This study used statistical tools to optimise WC/Co/Ni welds and model construction to improve the mechanical properties of coatings by laser cladding. The effect of the parameters on the wear performance of the weld was determined by analysis of variance. In addition, a polynomial model was constructed using the response surface method based on the experimental data of the orthogonal array designed by Taguchi.

Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) technology, known for its low equipment and material costs, high material utilization, and high production efficiency, has found extensive applications in the fabrication of key components for the aerospace and aviation industries. The stability of the arc is crucial for the WAAM process as it directly affects the forming of the parts. In this study, the monitoring data of electrical signals and arc morphology during the WAAM process of 2319 aluminum alloy were investigated using a high-speed camera system and current/voltage acquisition system.

Carbon and low-alloy steel plates clad with stainless steel or other metals are a good choice to meet the demand for cost-effective materials to be used in many corrosive environments. Numerous technical solutions are developed for the production of clad steel plates, as well as for their joining by fusion welding. For thick plates, a careful strategy is required in carrying out the multiple passes and in choosing the most suitable filler metals, having to take into account the composition of the base metal and the cladding layer.

The objective of this study was to investigate how weld overlays with nickel superalloys are important for the integrity, due the high temperatures and corrosive environments that can be experienced in mineral processing environments, of mining and processing equipment. The Ni-Cr-Mo superalloy Inconel 686 overlays are fabricated through automatic gas metal arc welding with variations in arc voltage and travel speed (i.e.
