Background: Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) plays a significant role in several cardiovascular diseases. As a correctable risk factor and potential therapeutic target, reducing EAT has multiple cardiovascular benefits, especially in those with abnormal glucolipid metabolism. The objective of this research was to compare the effects of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) agonists, and exercise on the thickness of EAT and indicators of glucolipid metabolism in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), obesity, and T2DM with obesity.

Background/objectives: The search for novel ways of providing treatment also targets the development of formulations used in drug delivery. Among the important characteristics of pharmaceutical gels are their ability to penetrate membranes, their capability to offer rapid response, and their capacity to avoid the hepatic metabolization route followed by many drugs. Bigels combine the advantages of both hydrogels and oleogels, creating a biphasic system that might improve the solubility of amiodarone in water, which is otherwise poorly soluble.

Objective: To describe complications and outcomes in cats undergoing epicardial pacemaker (EP) implantation for artificial cardiac pacing and to investigate improvement in clinical signs and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) following surgery.
Methods: 39 client-owned cats that underwent EP placement. Medical records of 4 UK-based referral hospitals were searched and data reviewed retrospectively between July 2010 and December 2022.
