NaiKan Therapy, a method of self-reflection and introspection, has garnered considerable interest for its psychological benefits. However, its physiological impacts, particularly on hormonal regulation, remain underexplored. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of NaiKan Therapy on salivary oxytocin and cortisol release, shedding light on the psychophysiological mechanisms underlying this introspective practice.

Neuropsychiatric complications including depression and cognitive impairment develop, persist, and worsen in the years after traumatic brain injury (TBI), negatively affecting life and lifespan. Inflammatory responses mediated by microglia are associated with the transition from acute to chronic neuroinflammation after TBI. Moreover, type I interferon (IFN-I) signaling is a key mediator of inflammation during this transition.

Oxytocin (OXT) is a neuropeptide known for modulating anxiety and fear memory. We have reported that microglial cytokine regulates contextual fear memory and that microglial OXT positively correlates with cytokine secretion. However, the relationship between contextual fear memory and microglial OXT expression remains unclear.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) has gained attention as a kind of anti-pain or anti-inflammation therapy, yet its efficacy in mitigating the symptoms and underlying metabolic disturbances of primary dysmenorrhea remains underexplored. Here, 630 nm light reduced menstrual pain and prostaglandin F/prostaglandin E dysregulation, regulated oxidation and lipid peroxidation levels, and improved uterus damage in oxytocin-induced mice. Notably, pulsed wave (PW) treatment exhibited superior efficacy compared to continuous wave application.
