The actuality of donorship increases continuously since donors are the only source of blood to transfuse to patients in need. The medical institutions implementing hi-tech methods of treatment present increased requirements to quality and safety of blood components. The regular analysis of functioning of blood services permits to maintain and to develop productive potential. The article presents results of analysis of statistical indicators of blood service institutions of the Republic of Tatarstan, in particular Kazan, concerning procurement and safety of donor blood and its components as exemplified by three multidisciplinary hospitals with blood transfusion departments in 2017-2020. The data concerning number and structure of donors, donations, amount of procured blood and its components, applied technologies ensuring safety and quality of blood components is presented. The achieved indicators resulted from improved forms of donor propaganda, taking of donors with low risk of hemo-transmissible infections and coordinated work of medical personnel.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the regulatory effects of long non-coding RNA-ANRIL on CDKN2A in the cell cycle of Kasumi-1 cells and elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms.
Methods: ANRIL and CDKN2A expression levels were quantified using RT-qPCR in peripheral blood samples from acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients. CDKN2A knockdown efficiency was validated via RT-qPCR, and cell cycle distribution was analyzed using flow cytometry.

Background: In severely injured trauma patients, hypofibrinoginaemia is associated with increased mortality. There is no evidence-based consensus for what constitutes optimal fibrinogen therapy, treatment dose or timing of administration. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the effects of early fibrinogen replacement, either cryoprecipitate or fibrinogen concentrate (FgC) on mortality, transfusion requirements and deep venous thrombosis (DVT).

During development, endothelial cells (ECs) undergo an extraordinary specialization by which generic capillary microcirculatory networks spanning from arteries to veins transform into patterned organotypic zonated blood vessels. These capillary ECs become specialized to support the cellular and metabolic demands of each specific organ, including supplying tissue-specific angiocrine factors that orchestrate organ development, maintenance of organ-specific functions and regeneration of injured adult organs. Here, we illustrate the mechanisms by which microenvironmental signals emanating from non-vascular niche cells induce generic ECs to acquire specific inter-organ and intra-organ functional attributes.

Metallofullerenols and fullerenols have attracted attention due to their remarkable ability to interact with various biologically relevant molecules, paving the way for biomedical applications, ranging from medical imaging techniques to drug carriers, acting with increased efficiency and reduced side effects. In this work, we investigated the effects of two fullerene derivatives, Gd@C(OH) and C(OH), on erythrocyte membrane components under oxidative stress conditions induced by 2,2'-azobis(2-amidinopropane) dihydrochloride (AAPH) as a source of peroxyl radicals. The results demonstrated that gadolinium encapsulation within the fullerene cage enhanced the electron affinity of Gd@C(OH), resulting in stronger antioxidant activity.

Background: The most frequently ordered laboratory test worldwide is the complete blood count (CBC). As clinical chemists are increasingly assigned to assist or direct laboratories outside of the traditional clinical chemistry sections, such as the automated hematology section, expertise must be established. This review article is a dedication to that ongoing effort.
