Objectives: To establish a novel quantitative method that automatically excludes the red bone marrow and accurately quantifies the tumor volume on whole-body magnetic resonance imaging using updated imaging software. To also evaluate the association between the quantified tumor volume and the prognosis of patients with metastatic prostate cancer.
Methods: This prospective analysis included patients diagnosed with metastatic hormone-sensitive or metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer between 2017 and 2022. We developed an imaging software (Attractive BD_Score) that analyzed whole-body diffusion-weighted and in-phase and opposed-phase T1-weighted images to automatically exclude the red bone marrow. The quantified tumor volume was compared with that quantified by traditional whole-body diffusion-weighted imaging without red bone marrow exclusion. Prostate-specific antigen progression-free survival, time-to-pain progression, and overall survival were evaluated to assess the prognostic value of the quantified tumor volume.
Results: The quantified tumor volume was significantly smaller than that quantified by the traditional method in metastatic hormone-sensitive (median: 81.0 ml vs. 149.4 ml) and metastatic castration-resistant (median: 29.4 ml vs. 63.5 ml) prostate cancer. A highly quantified tumor volume was associated with prostate-specific antigen progression-free survival (p = 0.030), time-to-pain progression (p = 0.003), and overall survival (p = 0.005) in patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer and with poor prostate-specific antigen progression-free survival (p = 0.001) and time-to-pain progression (p = 0.005) in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.
Conclusions: Our imaging method could accurately quantify the tumor volume in patients with metastatic prostate cancer. The quantified tumor volume can be clinically applied as a new prognostic biomarker for metastatic prostate cancer.

Background: Diffusing alpha-emitters Radiation Therapy ("Alpha DaRT") is a promising new radiation therapy modality for treating bulky tumors. Ra-carrying sources are inserted intratumorally, producing a therapeutic alpha-dose region with a total size of a few millimeter via the diffusive motion of Ra's alpha-emitting daughters. Clinical studies of Alpha DaRT have reported 100% positive response (30%-100% shrinkage within several weeks), with post-insertion swelling in close to half of the cases.

Analysis of the symmetry of the brain hemispheres at the level of individual structures and dominant tissue features has been the subject of research for many years in the context of improving the effectiveness of imaging methods for the diagnosis of brain tumor, stroke, and Alzheimer's disease, among others. One useful approach is to reliably determine the midline of the brain, which allows comparative analysis of the hemispheres and uncovers information on symmetry/asymmetry in the relevant planes of, for example, CT scans. Therefore, an effective method that is robust to various geometric deformations, artifacts, varying noise characteristics, and natural anatomical variability is sought.

This study evaluates the effects of different high-intensity focused ultrasound irradiation (HIFU) methods on local tumor suppression and systemic antitumor effects, including the abscopal effect, in a mouse model of pancreatic cancer. To ascertain the efficacy of the treatment, pancreatic cancer cells were injected into the thighs of mice and HIFU was applied on one side using continuous waves or trigger pulse waves. Then, tumor volume, tissue changes, and immune marker levels were analyzed.

Lysine acetyltransferase 2B (KAT2B) plays a crucial role in epigenetic regulation and tumor pathogenesis. Our study investigates KAT2B's function in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) using in vivo and in vitro methods. Immunohistochemistry showed the KAT2B expression in EOC tissues.

Objectives: To develop a predictive tool to assist in predicting the risk of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) following robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN).
Methods: A retrospective review was performed on the prospectively maintained, IRB-approved database to identify all consecutive patients who underwent RAPN between 2008 and 2023. Patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), horseshoe kidneys, solitary kidneys, and previous renal transplant recipients were excluded.
