Wernicke's Encephalopathy (WE) is a rare but severe condition primarily caused by thiamine deficiency, often seen in pregnant women who experience severe vomiting, such as in hyperemesis gravidarum. This case report details a 38-year-old woman at 27 weeks of gestation who developed altered consciousness, cerebellar ataxia, and hyperlactatemia following persistent vomiting. Brain MRI demonstrated characteristic bilateral abnormalities consistent with WE.

Background: PROTECT ( Platform Randomised evaluation of clinical Outcomes using novel TEChnologies to optimise antimicrobial Therapy) has brought together a team of researchers to design a platform trial to rapidly evaluate and adopt into care multiple diagnostic technologies, bringing immediate benefit to patients. Rapid diagnostic tests will be used to identify patients at risk of deterioration from severe infection, before they become critically unwell. The platform will assess their comparative clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness relative to current standard of care.

Due to the increasing occurrence of natural disasters, it is essential to prioritize the improvement of health literacy during emergencies, particularly for individuals with chronic illnesses like diabetes who are especially vulnerable in the medical sector. The primary objective of this study was to identify the key themes within an emerging framework for disaster health literacy specifically tailored for diabetics. A scoping review design was selected based on the Arksey and O'Malley framework.

Introduction: The use of robots for arthroplasty is gaining momentum in recent times to provide accuracy in bony cuts and alignment. We aimed to study the efficacy of coronal plane correction with a new robotic system (VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Surgery) and also the effect of the learning curve of robot-assisted total knee arthroplasty (RATKA) on outcomes. We hypothesize that the benefits of RATKA are not limited to only surgeons having specific training in robotic knee replacement.
