Yield of Esophageal Biopsy Patterns for the Diagnosis of Eosinophilic Esophagitis.

Gastrointest Endosc

Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts; Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. Electronic address:

Background And Aims: The pattern of inflammation in eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is patchy, necessitating multiple biopsies to optimize diagnostic yield. Current consensus-based guidelines recommend 6 total biopsies at two sites: distal and either middle or proximal esophagus, although based on limited data. We aimed to determine whether this biopsy protocol sufficiently captures EoE diagnoses by evaluating the distribution of eosinophilia in a large EoE cohort.

Pulmonary overlap syndrome in a patient with bronchial asthma.

BMJ Case Rep

Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, ESICPGIMSR, New Delhi, Delhi, India.

Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) is a disease of immunocompetent patients, and invasive pulmonary aspergillosis is seen in immunocompromised patients. Hence, pulmonary overlap syndrome presenting with ABPA and invasive aspergillosis is extremely rare. We report a case of well-controlled bronchial asthma who presented with acute exacerbation and hypoxaemic respiratory failure.

They are commonly associated with mild respiratory infections in young children but can also cause severe life-threatening infections. Human adenovirus types 4 and 7 have frequently been reported to cause pneumonia in immunocompetent youths and adults.

In this work, we study the model of a fish species growing logistically exploited by a fishing fleet in a heterogeneous environment. The environment is made up of a network of fishing patches connected by fish migrations taking place on a fast time scale. We are interested in the maximum economic yield (MEY) which corresponds to the maximum profit made by the fishing fleet.
