Based on six representatives of 2-oxonicotinonitriles, the effect of the nature of the substituent in the fourth position of the pyridine system on the photophysical characteristics was studied. The role of the donor/acceptor nature of the substituent and the solvent nature in the absorbing and fluorescent properties of the compounds was shown.

Septin 9 (SEPT9), a GTPase, known as the fourth cytoskeleton, is widely expressed in various cells and tissues. The functions of SEPT9 are partly similar to other cytoskeletons as a structure protein. Further, SEPT9 can interact with other cytoskeletons, participating in actin dynamics and microtubule regulation.

When multiple reaction steps occur before thermal equilibration, kinetic energy from one reaction step can influence overall product distributions in ways that are not well predicted by transition state theory. An understanding of how the structural features of mechanophores, such as substitutions, affect reactivity, product distribution, and the extent of dynamic effects in the mechanochemical manifolds is necessary for designing chemical reactions and responsive materials. We synthesized two tetrafluorinated [4]-ladderanes with fluorination on different rungs and found that the fluorination pattern influenced the force sensitivity and stereochemical distribution of products in the mechanochemistry of these fluorinated ladderanes.

pH-Responsive Fluorescent Switches through Intramolecular Conjugate Addition Reactions and Application in Fluorogenic Bioimaging.

Org Lett

October 2024

The Key Laboratory of Biomedical Information Engineering of Ministry of Education, School of Life Science and Technology, Xi'an Jiaotong University, No. 28 West Xianning Road, Xi'an, 710049, People's Republic of China.

We report new photoluminescent switching systems achieved through pH-induced intramolecular oxa-Michael conjugate addition reactions. Ratiometric absorbance and fluorescence emission were observed across conjugate acceptors triggered by pH, resulting in specific pseudo p values. The effect of substituents on the pseudo p's was investigated, showing increased values from electron-withdrawing to electron-donating groups.

Benzvalene-like Carboranes: Genuine Rule Breakers and Good Kinetic Stability.

Substituents are widespread in chemistry, but it has remained quite difficult to reliably determine the thermodynamic and kinetic stabilities of substituted compounds, though they are key to helping establish a structural rule and synthetic viability, respectively. As an important class of valence isomers in the benzene family, benzvalene-like structures have been extensively studied in systems associated with electron-neutral (i.e.

The structures of a series of 2:1 cocrystals formed between 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine and each of 1,2,4,5-tetrachloro-3,6-diiodobenzene, 2CHN·CClI, 1,2,4,5-tetrabromo-3,6-diiodobenzene, 2CHN·CBrI, 1-bromo-4-iodo-2,3,5,6-tetrafluorobenzene, 2CHN·CBrFI, and 1,2-dibromo-4,5-difluoro-3,6-diiodobenzene, 2CHN·CBrFI, are reported. In all five structures, the core halogen-bonded 2:1 trimolecular units have geometrically similar parameters, with the central halogen-bond donor flanked by two pyridine halogen-bond acceptors twisted with respect to the central halogen-bond donor at angles ranging from 76 to 86°. The I.
