31 different trace elements were analyzed in 24 kidney stones using the atomic absorption method. Where a significant trace element content in the concrements was detected, blood, urine and hair from the stone patients were investigated with respect to their trace element concentrations. In calcium stones mainly Fe, Pb, Sr and Zn and in organic stones As, Fe and Zn were found. No correlation could be found between the trace element content in stones, blood and urine. The hair of a woman with high As content in her stone contained a normal As concentration.

Manganese (Mn) is an essential trace element crucial for various physiological processes, but excessive exposure can lead to significant health concerns, particularly neurotoxicity. This review synthesizes current knowledge on Mn-induced oxidative stress and its role in cellular dysfunction and disease. We discuss how Mn promotes toxicity through multiple mechanisms, primarily through reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, which leads to oxidative stress and disruption of cellular processes.

Tracking and eradicating drug-resistant bacteria are critical for combating implant-associated infections, yet effective antibacterial therapies remain elusive. Herein, we propose an oxygen vacancy-rich (BiFe)(BaTi)O nanoreactor as a piezoelectric sonosensitizer by spatiotemporal ultrasound-driven sono- and chemodynamic tandem catalysis to amplify antibacterial efficacy. The piezoelectric charge carriers under a built-in electric field synchronize the reaction of O and HO, efficiently generating HO.

Purpose Of Review: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is the most common medical complication of pregnancy globally. Hyperglycaemia and associated production of reactive oxygen species can lead to oxidative stress in pregnancy. However, the potential effectiveness of increased antioxidant intake in the management of GDM has not been widely examined.

Introduction: Crohn's disease (CD) is a group of chronic transmural inflammation of gastrointestinal tract, which seriously harms the mental and physical health of adolescents. At present, there are still no specific markers that make the diagnosis of CD extremely difficult and poor prognosis. Iron deficiency is common in CD, yet the role of ferroptosis-related genes in CD has not been elucidated.
