Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is commonly used in choroidal neovascularization (CNV) treatment due to the superior light transmittance of the eye. However, PDT often leads to surrounding tissue damage and further microenvironmental deterioration, including exacerbated hypoxia, inflammation, and secondary neovascularization. In this work, Pt nanoparticles (NPs) and Au NPs decorated zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 nanoplatform is developed to load indocyanine green for precise PDT and microenvironment amelioration, which can penetrate the internal limiting membrane through Müller cells endocytosis and target to CNV by surface-grafted cyclo(Arg-Gly-Asp-d-Phe-Lys) after intravitreal injection. The excessive H O in the CNV microenvironment is catalyzed by catalase-like Pt NPs for hypoxia relief and enhanced PDT occlusion of neovascular. Meanwhile, Au NPs show significant anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenesis properties in regulating macrophages and blocking vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Compared with verteporfin treatment, the mRNA expressions of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α and VEGF in the nanoplatform group are downregulated by 90.2% and 81.7%, respectively. Therefore, the nanoplatform realizes a comprehensive CNV treatment effect based on the high drug loading capacity and biosafety. The CNV treatment mode developed in this work provides a valuable reference for treating other diseases with similar physiological barriers that limit drug delivery and similar microenvironment.

Retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells undergoing epithelial‑mesenchymal transition (EMT) are a key factor in promoting the progression of subretinal fibrosis. The klotho protein and gene exert anti‑fibrotic effects in multiple fibrotic diseases. However, the mechanisms involved in the role of klotho are unclear in subretinal fibrosis.

Vulvar cancer is a rare gynaecological disease that can be caused by infection with human papillomavirus (HPV). The mutational frequencies and landscape for HPV-associated and HPV-independent vulvar tumor development are supposedly two distinctly different pathways and more detailed knowledge on target biological mechanisms for individualized future treatments is needed. The study included formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) samples from 32 cancer patients (16 HPV-negative and 16 HPV-associated), treated in Örebro, Sweden from 1988 to 2008.

Purpose: We describe an atypical presentation of an 11-year-old female with enhanced S-cone syndrome (ESCS).
Methods: Case report. The patient underwent a thorough ophthalmic examination and investigations such as colour fundus photography, optical coherence tomography, fundus autofluorescence, fluorescein and indocyanine angiography, an electroretinogram and genetic testing.

Background: Intimal sarcoma is a rare and aggressive soft-tissue sarcoma with limited treatment options. We explored genomic profiles of intimal sarcoma to uncover therapeutic implications.
Materials And Methods: We analyzed tumor tissues from patients with intimal sarcoma who visited the Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) using whole-exome, whole-transcriptome, and clinical next-generation sequencing (NGS), integrated with intimal sarcoma NGS data from two public cohorts.

Objectives: To investigate the effect of diffusivity metrics of magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging (MR-DTI) in the assessment of treatment effects.
Methods: MR-DTI examination for trigeminal neuralgia (TN) patients and the diffusivity metrics of the trigeminal ganglion (TG) were analyzed. Before and after the percutaneous stereotactic radiofrequency rhizotomy (PSR) operation, the treatment effect was assessed using pain scores and MR-DTI.
