Background And Objectives: Nosocomial pneumonia caused by multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacteria presents a significant challenge for healthcare systems, as there are limited effective treatments available. This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to investigate the outcomes of colistin plus meropenem combination therapy on nosocomial pneumonia.

Materials And Methods: An exhaustive search of PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science (WOS), and Embase databases was conducted, resulting in the extraction of 5 studies for qualitative assessment and meta-analysis.

All-in-one microfluidic immunosensing device for rapid and end-to-end determination of salivary biomarkers of cardiovascular diseases.

Biosens Bioelectron

December 2024

School of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering, Ningbo University, Ningbo, Zhejiang, 315200, China. Electronic address:

Routine screening for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) through point-of-care assays for at-home or community-based testing of salivary biomarkers can significantly improve patient outcomes. However, its translatability has been hindered by a dearth of biosensing devices that streamline assay procedures for rapid biomarker quantitation. To address this challenge through end-to-end engineering, we developed an in-house, all-in-one microfluidic immunosensing device that integrates on-chip vibration-enhanced incubation, magnetic-assisted separation using immune magnetic bead probes, and colorimetric readout via absorbance measurements.

This study intended to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of colistin sulfate aerosol inhalation in combination with ceftazidime-avibactam for the treatment of pulmonary carbapenem-resistant (CRKP) infection during the peri-operative period of liver transplantation. A retrospective analysis was designed to investigate 52 patients who developed pulmonary CRKP infection after liver transplantation between December 1, 2019, and November 30, 2022. On the basis of whether they received colistin sulfate aerosol inhalation, the patients were divided into the treatment group ( = 29) and the control group ( = 23).

December 2024

Department of Intensive Care Medicine, Hunan University of Medicine General Hospital, Huaihua, Hunan Province, People's Republic of China.

Background: Our objective was to analyze the clinical and imaging features of pneumonia to enhance its diagnostic accuracy.

Methods: We systematically reviewed the cases of Chlamydia psittaci diagnosed by next-generation sequencing at the Hunan University of Medicine General Hospital between March 2019 and June 2024, summarizing and analyzing their clinical characteristics and imaging features.

Results: A total of 50 cases that met the inclusion criteria were ultimately included in the study analysis.

Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the clinical significance and potential mechanism of long non-coding RNA human histocompatibility leukocyte antigen complex P5 (HCP5) in neonatal sepsis (NS).

Material And Methods: The study enrolled 86 patients with NS and 80 neonates with respiratory tract infection or pneumonia. The Pearson correlation coefficient was used to evaluate the association of procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP), and inflammatory factors with HCP5.
