Covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) and their derivative N-doped carbons have attracted much attention for application in energy conversion and storage. However, previous studies have mainly focused on developing new building blocks and optimizing synthetic conditions. The use of isometric building blocks to control the porous structure and to fundamentally understand structure-property relationships have rarely been reported. In this work, two isometric building blocks are used to produce isometric CTFs with controllable pore geometries. The as-prepared CTF with nonplanar hexagonal rings demonstrates higher surface area, larger pore volume, and richer N content than the planar CTF. After pyrolysis, nonplanar porous CTF-derived N-doped carbons exhibit admirable catalytic activity for oxygen reduction in alkaline media (half-wave potential: 0.86 V; Tafel slope: 65 mV dec ), owing to their larger pore volume and the abundance of pyridinic and graphitic N species. When assembled into a zinc-air battery, the as-made electrocatalysts show high capacities of up to 651 mAh g and excellent durability.

Background: Carbohydrates exhibit diverse functions and extensive biological activities and are notable in the field of life sciences. However, their inherent diversity and complexity-steaming from variations in isomeric monomers, glycosidic bonds, configurations, etc.-present considerable challenges in structural analysis.

Background: Development assistance for health (DAH) plays a vital role in supporting health programmes in low- and middle-income countries. While DAH has historically focused on infectious diseases and maternal and child health, there is a lack of comprehensive analysis of DAH trends, strategic shifts and their impact on health systems and outcomes. This study aims to provide a comprehensive review of DAH from 1990 to 2022, examining its evolution and funding allocation shifts.

Background: Children living in communities with lower socioeconomic status and higher minority populations are often disproportionately exposed to particulate matter (PM) compared to children living in other communities.

Objective: We assessed whether adding HEPA filter air cleaners to classrooms with existing HVAC systems reduces indoor air pollution exposure.

Methods: From July 2022 to June 2023, using a block randomized crossover trial of 17 Los Angeles Unified School District elementary schools, classroom PM concentrations were monitored and compared for 99 classrooms with HEPA filter air cleaners and 87 classrooms with non-HEPA filter air cleaners.

Electrically Switchable Multi-Stable Topological States Enabled by Surface-Induced Frustration in Nematic Liquid Crystal Cells.

In liquid crystal (LC) cells, the surface patterning directs the self-assembly of the uniaxial building blocks in the bulk, enabling the design of stimuli-response optical devices with various functionalities. The combination of different anchoring patterns at both substrates can lead to surface induced frustration, preventing a purely planar and defect-free configuration. In cells with crossed assembly of rotating anchoring patterns, elastic deformations allow to obtain a defect-free bulk configuration, but an electrical stimulus can induce disclination lines.
