Importance: An emergency department (ED) physician's decision to admit a patient to the hospital plays a pivotal role in determining the type and intensity of care that patient will receive. ED physicians vary widely in their propensity to admit patients to the hospital, but it is unknown whether higher admission propensities result in lower subsequent mortality rates.

Objective: To measure the variation in ED physicians' admission propensities and estimate their association with patients' subsequent mortality rates.

Background: In modern healthcare systems, the scope of practice for anesthesiologists is expanding within and beyond the traditional perioperative care continuum. This study was conducted to assess the knowledge and perceptions of perioperative patients of the roles of anesthesiologists as providers of healthcare services in different Palestinian hospitals. The study also assessed associations between the patients' different demographic and clinical variables and their knowledge and perceptions about the roles of anesthesiologists.

Introduction And Importance: Cecal volvulus is an uncommon cause of large bowel obstruction that typically presents in older adults with a history of chronic constipation or prior abdominal surgery. However, this report documents a rare and atypical case of cecal volvulus presenting in a middle-aged female with no significant past medical or surgical history. This case also highlights the benefits of adopting a synergistic approach between a physician's clinical judgment and the patient's presentation when making a diagnosis to ensure timely interventions and prevent life-threatening complications.
