Helical supramolecular architectures play important structural and functional roles in biological systems. The helicity of synthetic molecules can be tuned mainly by the chiral manipulation of the system. However, tuning of helicity by the achiral unit of the molecules is less studied. In this work, the helicity of naphthalimide-capped peptide-based gel nanofibers is tuned by the alteration of methylene units present in the achiral amino acid. The inversion of supramolecular helicity has been extensively studied by CD spectroscopy and morphological analysis. The density functional theory (DFT) study indicates that methylene spacers influence the orientation of π-π stacking interactions of naphthalimide units in the self-assembled structure that regulates the helicity. This work illustrates a new approach to tuning the supramolecular chirality of self-assembled biomaterials.

Herein, we present a strategy to access a novel class of pH-responsive, dual-state emissive (DSE), highly fluorescent pyrrole-based chromophores diformylation of dipyrroethenes (DPE) followed by condensation with various aniline derivatives. The DPE-based chromophores exhibit a large Stokes shift and maintain good fluorescence quantum yields. Remarkably, these chromophores demonstrate reversible colourimetric changes and a fluorometric 'on-off-on' switch in response to pH variations.

In this study, unconventional C-Hlg···H-C (Hlg = Cl, Br, and I) interactions involving sp, sp, and sp organic halides were investigated at the RI-MP2/aug-cc-pVQZ level of theory. Energy Decomposition Analyses (EDA) and Natural Bonding Orbital (NBO) studies showed that these intermolecular contacts are mainly supported by orbital and dispersion contributions, which counteracted the unfavorable/slightly favorable electrostatics due to the halogen-hydrogen σ-hole facing. In addition, the Bader's Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules (QTAIM) and the Noncovalent Interaction plot (NCIplot) visual index methodologies were used to further characterize the interactions discussed herein.

Plasmonic nanoparticle-based chiral materials have attracted great interest due to their strong light-matter interaction and tunable resonance frequency. However, challenges remain in dynamically modulating the chiroptical activities while maintain strong signals. Here, chiral assemblies of gold nanospheres(AuNSs) are achieved via mechanical-induced surface buckling of elastic materials, in which linear chain assemblies of AuNSs transform into to 3D "S-liked" morphology along with the formation of unidirectional wrinkles during buckling.

Optoelectronics usually deals with the fabrication of devices that can interconvert light and electrical energy using semiconductors. The modification of electronic properties is crucial in the field of optoelectronics. The tuning of the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) and their energy gaps is of paramount interest in this domain.

The development of stimuli-responsive drug delivery systems enables targeted delivery and environment-controlled drug release, thereby minimizing off-target effects and systemic toxicity. We prepared and studied tailor-made dual-responsive systems (thermo- and pH-) based on synthetic diblock copolymers consisting of a fully hydrophilic block of poly[-(1,3-dihydroxypropyl)methacrylamide] (poly(DHPMA)) and a thermoresponsive block of poly[-(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxan-5-yl)methacrylamide] (poly(DHPMA-acetal)) as drug delivery and smart stimuli-responsive materials. The copolymers were designed for eventual medical application to be fully soluble in aqueous solutions at 25 °C.
