is an economically important tree and widely cultured in the southeast of China. Its barks, leaves, and fruits are consumed as a traditional medicine and perceived as a valuable source for bioactive limonin compounds. The extracts from root barks of showed significant anti-inflammatory effect. The aim of this research was to explore the material basis of anti-inflammatory activity, and to purify and identify anti-inflammatory active ingredients. By a bioassay-guided isolation of dichloromethane fraction obtained two novel phragmalin limonins, Chukrasitin D and E ( and ), together with 12 known limonins (-). The chemical structure of these compounds is determined on the basis of extensive spectral analysis and chemical reactivity. In addition, the activities of these isolated limonins on the production of nitric oxide (NO), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-B) in RAW264.7 cells induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) were evaluated. Limonins and indicated significant anti-inflammatory activity with IC values of 6.24 and 6.13 M. Compound notably inhibited the production of NF-B, TNF- and interleukin 6 (IL-6) in macrophages The present results suggest that the root barks of exhibited anti-inflammatory effect and the limonins may be responsible for this activity.

Ten new limonoids, named xylomolones E-N (1-10), and two new protolimonoids, named xylomolones O (11) and P (12), were isolated from seeds of the Thai mangrove Xylocarpus moluccensis, together with the known compound, hispidone acetonide (13). The structures of these compounds were established by extensive NMR spectroscopic data, single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, and comparison of experimental ECD spectra. The absolute configurations of xylomolones E (1) and L (8) were unambiguously determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses, conducted with Cu Kα radiation.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder characterized by the excessive proliferation of keratinocytes, forming thickened skin plaques due to immune-mediated cytokine responses. Delivering drugs through this barrier to target inflamed tissues remains challenging. Nimbolide (NIM), known for its anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties, shows promise in managing psoriasis.

Neuroinflammation and neuronal apoptosis are central pathogenic consequences associated with Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and Parkinson's Disease (PD). Limonin (LM), a tetracyclic triterpenoid available in citrus fruits, has anti-tumor, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, and neuroprotective actions. LM derivative, V-A-4 emerged as a potential neuroprotective drug due to their ability to target multiple molecular pathways intertwined with neuroinflammation and neuronal apoptosis.

The competition among drugs for binding to plasma proteins is regarded as a pharmacokinetic drug interaction. Competition between antitumor agents and other drugs for plasma protein binding can alter the free concentration of the drug, potentially impacting its efficacy and increasing the risk of toxic side effects. Through a range of spectroscopic techniques, this study examined the interaction between limonin and human serum albumin (HSA) in the context of berberine (Ber) and curcumin (Cur) under physiological conditions to clarify the binding mechanisms of binary and ternary systems at the molecular level.
