Purpose: Camrelizumab and rivoceranib together provide a new first-line treatment approach for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Meanwhile, transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) is an effective method for the local control of the HCC. The study compared the clinical benefit and safety between TACE with camrelizumab-rivoceranib and camrelizumab-rivoceranib alone for Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC)-C HCC patients.

Purpose: Personalized treatment schemes are being systematically applied to ensure best treatment outcome in oncologic patients. This is true also for personalized dosimetry in transarterial radioembolization (TARE) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. Precise and detailed volumetric and functional data derived from radiological and nuclear imaging methods are essential for personalized dosimetry.

Purpose: To compare the effectiveness of transarterial embolization (TAE) using a liquid embolic (LE) to TAE using a particle embolic (PE) based on radiographic and histologic response in a translational rat model of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Materials And Methods: HCC was induced in Wistar rats using diethylnitrosamine. Tumor response was determined through RECIST applied to T2-weighted MRI scans.

Article Synopsis
  • * A study involving nearly 2,000 non-resectable HCC patients showed that LMWA had comparable safety and overall survival rates to PRFA and significantly better survival rates than TACE after 1, 3, and 5 years.
  • * The results suggest that LMWA is a viable treatment option for early HCC, outperforming TACE while demonstrating similar efficacy to PRFA, which supports its potential inclusion in standardized treatment

Complete contrast staining of hepatocellular carcinoma during drug-eluting bead chemoembolization predicts a favorable response.

J Clin Imaging Sci

November 2024

Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging, College of Medicine, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to see if complete contrast staining (CCS) of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) during the first session of drug-eluting bead transarterial chemoembolization (DEBTACE) can predict treatment response.
  • - Researchers analyzed data from 41 patients with solitary HCC, categorizing them into CCS and non-CCS groups based on their contrast staining observed via 2D fluoroscopy during their initial treatment session.
  • - Results showed that CCS was present in over half of the patients and was linked to significantly higher rates of complete response in subsequent treatment sessions compared to those without CCS.
