Increased plasma homocysteine(Hcy) levels are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases and may be reduced by exercise. Background: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a common therapy for many hematologic malignancies. While advances in transplant practice have improved cancer-specific outcomes, multiple and debilitating long term physical and psychologic effects remain. Patients undergoing allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (allo-BMT) are often critically ill at initial diagnosis and with necessary sequential treatments become increasingly frail and deconditioned.

Objective: This study aimed to clarify whether nutritional status at admission affects enteral nutrition weaning 6 months after surgery in patients with esophageal cancer.
Methods: This was a retrospective study of 81 patients who underwent subtotal esophageal cancer resection between April 2014 and February 2016. The survey items were as follows: 1) sex, 2) age, 3) presence or absence of family members living together, 4) clinical stage, 5) surgical procedure, 6) reconstructed organs, 7) nutritional status at admission, 8) presence or absence of postoperative complications (anastomotic leakage, chylothorax, and recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis), and 9) presence or absence of treatment other than surgery (chemo- or radiotherapy).

Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor (ETI) remains challenging due to a lack of clarity around the parameters that govern ETI plasma concentrations, whilst the use of concomitant CYP3A inducers rifabutin and rifampicin is not recommended. We present the complexities of TDM for ETI performed in a person with cystic fibrosis and refractory pulmonary disease. Utilising National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accredited assays and target considerations published by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Australia, ETI plasma concentration variability was monitored over the course of an acute admission with added complexity from an antibiotic regimen including rifabutin, a moderate cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A) inducer, and clofazimine, a mild CYP3A inhibitor.
