Two novel naphthalene diimide (NDI) coordination polymers (CPs), [Cd(NicNDI)(4,4'-SBC)] (1) and [Cd(NicNDI)(2,2'-BPC)] (2) (NicNDI = (3-pyridylacylamino)-1,4,5,8-naphthalene diimide, 4,4'-SBC = 4,4'-stilbene dicarboxylic acid, 2,2'-BPC = 2,2'-biphenyl dicarboxylic acid), were designed and prepared by the combination of electron-deficient NicNDI and electron-rich aromatic carboxylic acid ligands in the presence of cadmium ions. The usage of aromatic carboxylic acid ligands with different conjugation degrees, sizes, shapes and charge densities leads to the generation of distinct interpenetrated three-dimensional (3D) frameworks. Interestingly, photochromism of 1 and weak photoactivity of 2 should be attributed to the introduction of different auxiliary ligands and consequently the formation of distinct interfacial contacts of electron donors (EDs)/electron acceptors (EAs) ( = 3.427 Å, infinite -ED-EA-ED-EA- for 1 = 3.634 Å, discrete ED-EA-ED for 2), suggesting a subtle modulating effect of auxiliary ligands on interfacial contacts, photoinduced intermolecular electron transfer (PIET) and photoresponsive behaviors.

Background: Radiochemical purity is a key criterion for the quality of radiopharmaceuticals used in clinical practice. The joint improvement of analytical methods capable of identifying related radiochemical impurities and determining the actual radiochemical purity, as well as the improvement of synthesis methods to minimize the formation of possible radiochemical impurities, is integral to the implementation of high-tech nuclear medicine procedures. PSMA-targeted radionuclide therapy with lutetium-177 has emerged as an effective treatment option for prostate cancer, and [Lu]Lu-PSMA-617 and [Lu]Lu-PSMA have achieved global recognition as viable radiopharmaceuticals.

Phosphorescent sensors are essential for rapid visual sensing of volatile acids, due to their profound impact on ecosystems and human health. However, solid phosphorescent materials for acid-base stimulus response are still rare, and it is important to achieve real-time monitoring of volatile acids. In order to obtain an efficient and rapid response to volatile acid stimulation, N-H and -NH substituents are introduced into an auxiliary ligand to synthesize a new cationic Ir(III) complex ().

The prevalence of naphthalene compounds in biologically active natural products, organic ligands and approved drugs has motivated investigators to develop efficient strategies for their selective synthesis. C-H functionalization of naphthalene has been frequently deployed, but mainly involves two-component reactions, while multiple-component C-H functionalization for the synthesis of naphthalene compounds has thus far proven elusive. Herein, we disclose a versatile three-component protocol for the modular synthesis of multifunctional naphthalenes from readily available simple naphthalenes, olefins and alkyl bromides P(iii)-assisted ruthenium-catalyzed remote C-H functionalization.

Optically pure 1,2-diols and 1,3-diols are the most privileged structural motifs, widely present in natural products, pharmaceuticals and chiral auxiliaries or ligands. However, their synthesis relies on the use of toxic or expensive metal catalysts or suffer from low regioselectivity. Catalytic asymmetric synthesis of optically pure 1,n-diols from bulk chemicals in a highly stereoselective and atom-economical manner remains a formidable challenge.

Ln-MOFs, composed of lanthanide ions and functional organic ligands, are porous materials with tunable structures and unique luminescent properties. However, the interplay between ligand AIE properties and the framework's "antenna effect" on MOF morphology is understudied. Here, Tb-D-Cam-TPTB was synthesized via solvothermal method using TPTB (persulfurated arene) as the primary ligand, D-Cam as the auxiliary ligand, and Tb3+ as the metal ion.
