Background & Aims: Body composition is an objective assessment reflecting nutritional status and is highly gender different. Surgical resection, the standard treatment for early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), is an energy-consuming major operation that would affect body composition. However, the impacts of body composition on the post-operative prognosis of HCC are still uncertain.

Background: Hip morphology variations, particularly in femoral neck shaft angle (NSA) and iliac wing width (IWW), have been associated with gluteal tendinopathy. However, the biomechanical implications of these morphological differences on gluteal muscle function are not well understood. This study investigates how NSA and IWW influence gluteal muscle forces, moment arms, and estimated tendon loads during walking, aiming to provide insights into the potential biomechanical pathways that may contribute to altered lateral hip loading patterns.

The recent emergence of bile salt hydrolase (BSH) enzyme as a therapeutic target reflects its unbound potential in mitigating hypercholesterolemia, obesity, and gastrointestinal issues. However, to bolster its industrial application, optimization of BSH assay lays the cornerstone for enhancing sensitivity, specificity, and reproducibility. The current study delved into optimizing the BSH assay parameters utilizing response surface methodology (RSM) and one-factor-at-a-time (OFAT) method for two novel, natural BSH producers, Heyndrickxia coagulans ATCC 7050 and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum ATCC 10012.

Dysfunctional response inhibition, mediated by the striatum and its connections, is thought to underly the clinical manifestations of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). However, the exact neural mechanisms remain controversial. In this study, we undertook a novel approach by positing that a) inhibition is a dynamic construct inherently susceptible to numerous failures, which require error-processing, and b) the actor-critic framework of reinforcement learning can integrate neural patterns of inhibition and error-processing in OCD with their behavioural correlates.

Importance: Family-centered care (FCC) in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) is critical for parental involvement and infant well-being, yet few studies have evaluated the impact of FCC interventions on practice or examined how implementation fidelity may affect these outcomes.
Objectives: To evaluate the association between the Close Collaboration With Parents intervention and FCC practices and how implementation fidelity may modify these outcomes.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This nonrandomized clinical trial had a before-and-after design.
