Brain ischemia is a major cause of neurological dysfunction and mortality worldwide. It occurs not only acutely, such as in acute ischemic stroke (AIS), but also in chronic conditions like cerebral small vessel disease (cSVD). Any other conditions resulting in brain hypoperfusion can also lead to ischemia.

Acute liver failure (ALF) is defined as the loss of hepatic function in conjunction with hepatic encephalopathy and coagulopathy. There is histological evidence of profound hepatocyte damage. If it is not aggressively managed, ALF can be fatal within a few days.

Background: The Gastro-Laryngeal Mask (Jcerity Endoscoper Airway) is a new airway management technique utilized in patients undergoing upper gastrointestinal endoscopy surgery under general anesthesia, but evidence of its effectiveness and safety is scarce.
Objective: To assess the success rate of insertion, cardiovascular response, airway pressure, time taken for placement, nausea or vomiting, pharyngodynia, and other complications of using the new type of back-open gastroscopy laryngeal mask.
Methods: We screened 1401 patients; 105 were ineligible, and 40 declined to participate.

Point-of-care abdominal ultrasound (US) has emerged as a powerful tool for clinicians and is becoming a routine bedside tool to rapidly diagnose, manage hemodynamics, monitor fluid status, and guide procedures in emergency and critical care. Extended focused assessment with sonography for trauma (eFAST), is commonly used to detect free intraperitoneal blood in the trauma setting and may also be an option in non-trauma patients. However, it has significant limitations for detecting gastrointestinal or retroperitoneal bleeding.
