Background: Borderline ovarian tumors (BOTs) comprise 15%-20% of all ovarian epithelial malignancies. The majority of them are serous tumors followed by mucinous tumors. Pre-operative cytological diagnosis plays an important role with histopathology being the gold standard.

The utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) in gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy has witnessed significant progress and promising results in recent years worldwide. From 2019 to 2023, the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy has released multiple guidelines/consensus with recommendations on integrating AI for detecting and classifying lesions in practical endoscopy. In Vietnam, since 2019, several preliminary studies have been conducted to develop AI algorithms for GI endoscopy, focusing on lesion detection.

Background: Drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) secondary to hypothalamic hamartoma (HH) often requires surgical resection or stereotactic radiosurgery, which frequently fail to provide satisfactory outcomes and are associated with severe side effects. Magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) may represent a minimally invasive surgical approach to HH by offering precise thermal ablation of sub-millimetric brain targets while sparing surrounding structures.

Methods: We present the case of a 19-year-old man with HH-associated DRE, who was successfully treated with MRgFUS.

Bilateral Lesions in Parkinson's Disease: Gaps and Controversies.

Mov Disord

December 2024

Grenoble Alpes University, CHU of Grenoble, Division of Neurology, Grenoble Institute of Neurosciences, INSERM, Grenoble, France.

Bilateral lesions of the basal ganglia using termocoagulation or radiation for improving tremor, bradykinesia, and rigidity in people with Parkinson's disease (PD) have been performed starting several decades ago, especially when levodopa and deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery were not available. However, because of unclear additional benefit compared to unilateral lesion, and particularly to the evidence of increased adverse events occurrence, bilateral lesions were basically abandoned at the end of the 20th century. Therefore, bilateral DBS has become the standard procedure to treat PD.

Risk stratification based on changes in the standard maximal uptake value on PET/CT and the plasma Epstein‒Barr virus (EBV) DNA status after two cycles of chemotherapy for extranodal NK-/T-cell lymphoma.

Department of Medical Oncology, State Key Laboratory of Oncology in Southern China, Collaborative Innovation Center of Cancer Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China.

Although different types of prognostic indices have been applied in extranodal NK-/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL), they are based mainly on clinical characteristics before treatment. Moreover, these methods lack early assessment and tumor metabolic parameters. It remains unclear whether changes in the plasma Epstein-Barr virus DNA (EBVDNA) status and SUVmax after two cycles of chemotherapy may predict disease prognosis.
