We investigated the effect of anticipation on the proactive and reactive neuromechanical responses of the distal leg muscles in 20 young adults to anticipated and unanticipated rapid anterior or posterior treadmill-induced balance perturbations applied during walking. We quantified local medial gastrocnemius (MG) and tibialis anterior (TA) neuromechanics using cine B-mode ultrasound and surface electromyography before, during, and after the perturbation. Our findings partially supported the hypothesis that anticipated perturbations would elicit greater proactive agonist muscle adjustments than unanticipated perturbations.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is an aggressive cancer with variable treatment responses. While clinical factors such as age and genetic mutations contribute to prognosis, recent studies suggest that CT attenuation scores may also predict treatment outcomes. This study aims to develop a nomogram combining clinical and CT-based factors to predict treatment response and guide personalized therapy for AML patients.

First- and secondhand smokers are at an increased risk for influenza virus (IFV)-related respiratory failure and death. Despite approved influenza antiviral treatments, there is an unmet need for treatments that can improve outcomes in populations at risk for respiratory failure, including tobacco users with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Here we show that the sialidase fusion protein, DAS181, reduced viral burden, mitigated inflammation, and attenuated lung function loss, consistent with broad-spectrum anti-influenza responses in a mouse model of COPD and IFV-A infection.

BCR::ABL1-negative myelo-proliferative neoplasms (MPNs) are characterized by mutations in JAK2, CALR, or MPL. Usually these mutations are co-exclusive of each other and of BCR::ABL1. We reviewed clonal interactions in 177 subjects with mutations in JAK2, CALR, or MPL and BCR::ABL1 including JAK2/BCR::ABL1 (N = 142), CALR/BCR::ABL1 (N = 31), MPL/BCR::ABL1 (N = 3).
