Spin excitation of an ilmenite FeTiO powder sample is measured by time-of-flight inelastic neutron scattering. The dynamic magnetic pair-density function D(r, E) is obtained from the dynamic magnetic structure factor S(Q, E) by the Fourier transformation. The real space spin dynamics exhibit magnon mode transitions in the spin-spin correlation with increasing energy from no-phase-shift to π-phase-shift. The mode transition is well reproduced by a simulation using the reciprocal space magnon dispersions. This analysis provides a novel opportunity to study the local spin dynamics of various magnetic systems.

Two-dimensional antiferromagnetic materials have attracted wide attention in both performance and application, which are of great significance for spin valves and next-generation magnetic random access memory devices. The spin-phonon coupling effect plays a crucial role in magnon dynamics. However, there is still a lack of research on the spin-phonon coupling effect of two-dimensional antiferromagnetic flakes.

We have grown (111)- and (001)-oriented NiO thin films on (0001)-Sapphire and (001)-MgO substrates using pulsed laser deposition (PLD), respectively. DC magnetic susceptibility measurements underline that the Néel temperatures of the samples are beyond room-temperature. This is further confirmed by the presence of two-magnon Raman scattering modes in these films in ambient conditions.

Spin defects embedded in solid-state systems are appealing for quantum sensing of materials and for quantum science and engineering. The spin-sensitive photoluminescence of optically active spin defects in Van der Waals based materials, such as the boron-vacancy (V_{B}^{-}) center in hexagonal boron nitride, enables its application as a quantum sensor to detect weak, spatially localized magnetic static and dynamic fields. However, the utility of V_{B}^{-} centers to probe spin dynamics in magnetic systems has yet to be demonstrated; this is essential to establish the V_{B}^{-} as a modular sensing platform that can be seamlessly integrated with emergent quantum materials to probe a wide range of static and dynamic phenomena.

The complexity of interactions between the crystal-field and unusual noncollinear spin arrangement in nontrivial magnets demands novel tools to unravel the mystery underneath. In this work, we study such interaction dynamics of crystal-field excitations (CFE) and low-energy magnetic excitations in orthochromite TmCrO with controls of temperature and magnetic field using high-resolution magneto-terahertz (THz) time-domain spectroscopy. The THz energy spectrum spanning 0.

Spin-wave mode coupling in the presence of the demagnetizing field in cobalt-permalloy magnonic crystals.

We present the results of studies on the non-uniform frequency shift of spin wave spectrum in a two-dimensional magnonic crystal of cobalt/permalloy under the influence of external magnetic field changes. We investigate the phenomenon of coupling of modes and, as a consequence, their hybridization. By taking advantage of the fact that compressing the crystal structure along the direction of the external magnetic field leads to an enhancement of the demagnetizing field, we analyse its effect on the frequency shift of individual modes depending on their concentration in Co.
