The genome of an antibiotic-producing bacterium, Bacillus velezensis H208, was sequenced. Strain H208 was isolated from ginger rhizosphere in Laifeng County, China. The genome consisted of 3,929,792 bp, with a GC content of 46.5%, and contained 3,773 protein-coding genes and 118 noncoding RNA genes.

Toxic and carcinogenic compounds, such as synthetic dyes and polyphenols, were widely employed and released as pollutants in a variety of industries, including textiles, food, and cosmetics. Biological oxidation process that used oxidizing enzymes to breakdown pollutant compounds were environmentally favorable. However, due to the cell toxicity of metal ions supplements used for the biosynthesis of oxidizing enzymes like laccase, their efficient application for biological degradation is limited.

strain PJH16, isolated and tested by our team, suppresses cucumber wilt as an efficient biocontrol agent. For further investigation, the strain has been combined with two other ( VJH504 and JNF2) to enhance biocontrol ability, which formed high-efficiency microbial agents in the current study. The methodological target taken is based on achieving the optimal growth conditions of the combined microbial agents; hence, the medium composition and culture conditions were optimized through a single-factor test, orthogonal test and response surface methodology.

Phytopathogenic Jagger causes lettuce drop, a destructive soil-borne disease. As potential biocontrol agents for this disease, 2 of 31 bacterial strains isolated from soil samples from fields containing Jagger were identified using in vitro antagonistic assays against Jagger. Bioactivity experiments showed that Bac20 had higher inhibitory activity against Jagger than Bac45.
