Membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (MPGN) has previously been used as an umbrella term to describe a spectrum of hypocomplementemic glomerular diseases, which are rare causes of end stage kidney disease (ESKD). We present a 22-year-old man with a well-established medical history who had been complaining of 4 days of frothy dark urine, bilateral lower limb swelling, and puffiness on his face. For a month before his presentation, he had many bilateral skin lesions on his lower limbs that were leaking pus.

Background: Alport syndrome (AS) is a multifaceted condition that primarily affects the basement membranes of the kidneys, ears, and eyes. AS is considered the second most common cause of hereditary renal failure, exhibiting varied clinical manifestations across different lifespans. The aim of this study is to investigate the clinical features and genetic profile of AS and to elucidate the genotype-phenotype correlation of AS.

Modified Hu-Lu-Ba-Wan Alleviates Early-Stage Diabetic Kidney Disease via Inhibiting Interleukin-17A in Mice.

Chin J Integr Med

January 2025

Institute of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, 430030, China.

Objective: To identify the underlying molecular mechanism of Modified Hu-Lu-Ba-Wan (MHW) in alleviating renal lesions in mice with diabetic kidney disease (DKD).

Methods: The db/db mice were divided into model group and MHW group according to a random number table, while db/m mice were settled as the control group (n=8 per group). The control and model groups were gavaged daily with distilled water [10 mL/(kg·d)], and the MHW group was treated with MHW [17.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (AdCC) of the breast is a rare histological subtype of breast cancer, which usually has a low propensity for metastasis and is associated with a good prognosis. AdCC metastasis to the kidney is rare, with only 29 cases reported in the literature. We report a case of a woman in her 60s with multiple right-sided large cystic-solid renal lesions after a recent diagnosis of marginal zone B-cell lymphoma.
