November 2024

Department of Genetic Engineering, School of Bioengineering, College of Engineering & Technology, SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Kattankulathur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, 603203, India.

(AB) is a clinically important bacterial pathogen responsible for nosocomial infections. The biofilm-forming capability of these pathogens reduces the antibiotic penetration and its efficacy, thereby complicating the treatment. The current work aims to isolate the most potent biofilm-forming species from clinical isolates of the patient samples and to evaluate the efficacy of the amikacin-humic acid combination against it.

The study and development of high thermoelectric properties is crucial for the next generation of microelectronic and wearable electronics. Derived from the recent experimental realization of layers of transition metal molybdenum and boride, we report the theoretical realization of advanced thermoelectric properties in two-dimensional (2D) transition metal boride MoB ( = 0, 0.05, 0.

Background: Halyomorpha halys is one of the most damaging invasive agricultural pests in North America and southern Europe. It is commonly monitored using pheromone traps, which are not very effective because few bugs are caught and some escape and/or remain outside the trap on surrounding plants where they feed, increasing the damage. Other monitoring techniques are based on visual sampling, sweep-netting and tree-beating.

Ecological interactions of Triatoma sanguisuga (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) and risk for human infection with Trypanosoma cruzi (Kinetoplastida: Trypanosomatidae) in Illinois and Louisiana.

J Med Entomol

November 2024

Department of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Disease, School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Vector-Borne and Infectious Disease Research Center, Tulane University, New Orleans, LA, USA.

Triatoma sanguisuga (Leconte) is one of the most widely distributed kissing bugs in the United States, associated with an extensive zoonotic circulation of Trypanosoma cruzi, the agent of Chagas disease, in a large part of the country. However, the actual risk for human infection in the United States is poorly understood. Here, we further assessed the ecology of T.
