Aquaculture systems generate large amounts of sludge that represent serious environmental threats if discharged directly into local ecosystems. However, this nutrient-rich sediment can contribute to nutrient cycling by being applied as an organic fertilizer to ornamental medicinal trees during their early growth stages. To investigate the potential advantages of using recirculating aquaculture system sludge (RASS) and biofloc technology sludge (BFTS) as organic fertilization alternatives to chemical fertilization, a pot trial was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Egypt.

Equity is a cornerstone of global climate policy, yet differing perspectives mean that international agreement on how to allocate mitigation efforts remains elusive. A rich literature informs this question, but a gap remains in approaches that appropriately consider non-CO emissions and their warming contributions. In this study, we address this gap and define a global warming budget applicable to all anthropogenic greenhouse gases that is allocated to countries based on principles drawn from international treaties and environmental law.

Background: Child abuse and neglect is recorded at higher rates in families with low incomes, and in contexts with lower public spending on families. However, it is not clear whether modest cash transfers could reduce rates.
Objective: To estimate the effects of unconditional cash transfers to mothers with children under 3 years of age on child abuse and neglect.

Complex coacervation is a form of liquid-liquid phase separation, whereby two types of macromolecules, usually bearing opposite net charges, self-assemble into dense microdroplets driven by weak molecular interactions. Peptide-based coacervates have recently emerged as promising carriers to deliver large macromolecules (nucleic acids, proteins and complex thereof) inside cells. Thus, it is essential to understand their assembly/disassembly mechanisms at the molecular level in order to tune the thermodynamics of coacervates formation and the kinetics of cargo release upon entering the cell.

Starch-rich faba bean, yellow lentil, and yellow field pea flours were subjected to submerged fermentation using Aspergillus oryzae and Lactobacillus plantarum starter mono- or co-cultures, to increase protein contents of the flours. Fermentation mixes were supplemented with up to 35 g/L urea, ammonium sulfate and/or monoammonium phosphate as nitrogen sources. Protein contents of the flours increased 2-2.
