Nasal dilators were created to expand the nasal valve area. The aim of this systematic review was to verify physiological parameters associated to running performance with the use of nasal dilators. This study was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42021225795). According to the PICOS framework studies were included: Population: healthy subjects; Intervention: nasal dilators; Comparison: control group, placebo, minimal intervention, health education or other intervention; Outcomes: cardiorespiratory parameters and subjective perceptions; Study: randomized controlled trials, repeated measures or within-subjects design. The databases searched were MEDLINE, EMBASE, CENTRAL The Cochrane Library, CINAHL, SPORTDiscus, Web of Science, PEDro and Scopus. The descriptors "Running", "Nasal Dilator", "Randomized Controlled Trial", and synonyms were used. The risk of bias was assessed using the PEDro scale. Random effects Der Simonian and Laird model were used. The assessment of the certainty of the evidence was carried out using the GRADE approach. Eleven articles were included. There was a difference in favour of the nasal dilator when compared to placebo for maximal oxygen uptake and rating of perceived exertion. The certainty of the evidence was very low. Future studies will probably have an impact on estimation of the effect.

Introduction And Importance: Sturge Weber Syndrome (SWS) is a congenital neurocutaneous disorder that affects several organs. Abnormal ocular findings are typically on the same side as the SWS. These changes can affect various parts of the eye, including the eyelid, front chamber, cornea, choroid, and retina.

Caliber mismatch in microvascular anastomosis can significantly increase procedural difficulty and elevate the risk of thrombosis. A comprehensive literature search in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar was conducted to identify articles addressing surgical techniques for overcoming caliber mismatch in microvascular anastomosis. Various techniques described in the literature were found: modifications of end-to-end anastomosis, the use of end-to-side anastomosis, the application of vessel grafts and the use of vessel couplers.

Behavioral influences shape processing in the retina and the dorsal lateral geniculate nucleus (dLGN), although their precise effects on visual tuning remain debated. Using 2-photon functional Ca imaging, we characterize the dynamics of dLGN axon activity in the primary visual cortex of awake behaving mice, examining the effects of visual stimulation, pupil size, stillness, locomotion, and anesthesia. In awake recordings, nasal visual motion triggers pupil dilation and, occasionally, locomotion, increasing responsiveness and leading to an overrepresentation of boutons tuned to nasal motion.

Cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR), the ability of cerebral blood vessels to dilate or constrict in order to regulate blood flow, is a clinically useful measure of cerebrovascular health. CVR is often measured using a breath-hold task to modulate blood CO levels during an fMRI scan. Measuring end-tidal CO (PCO) with a nasal cannula during the task allows CVR amplitude to be calculated in standard units (vascular response per unit change in CO, or %BOLD/mmHg) and CVR delay to be calculated in seconds.
