Background: The authors reviewed a case involving the orofacial manifestations of Crohn disease (CD) in an adolescent whose treatment was ultimately managed with a newer class of biologic drug agent, ustekinumab (Stelara, Janssen Biotech). CD is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting the gastrointestinal tract that often causes extraintestinal complications. The underlying etiology of CD involves genetic, environmental, and local factors.

Plasma cell gingivitis and cheilitis are diagnostic challenges for dental practitioners. To the best of the authors' knowledge, concomitant plasma cell gingivitis and plasma cell cheilitis in the same patient has not been reported in the dental literature, although these conditions have been reported separately (on lips and gingiva) several times. Underreporting of these coexisting clinical conditions may be attributed to a lack of awareness of both conditions and underperformance of comprehensive histopathological examinations.

Background: Generalized lupus erythematosus (LEG) is an autoimmune disease with cutaneous and mucosal manifestations, with lupus cheilitis (LC) being a rare associated oral presentation. The difficulty in early diagnosis of QL lies in its various clinical forms. Although successful treatments have been described, information on specific management is limited, highlighting the importance of early recognition to improve the prognosis and quality of life of patients.
