Climate-driven changes in high-elevation forest distribution and reductions in snow and ice cover have major implications for ecosystems and global water security. In the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem of the Rocky Mountains (United States), recent melting of a high-elevation (3,091 m asl) ice patch exposed a mature stand of whitebark pine () trees, located ~180 m in elevation above modern treeline, that date to the mid-Holocene (c. 5,950 to 5,440 cal y BP).

Modern treatment, a healthy diet, and physical activity routines lower the risk factors for metabolic syndrome; however, this condition is associated with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality worldwide. This investigation involved a randomized controlled trial, double-blind, parallel study. Fifty-eight participants with risk factors of metabolic syndrome according to the inclusion criteria were randomized into two groups and given probiotics (Lacticaseibacillus paracasei MSMC39-1 and Bifidobacterium animalis TA-1) (n = 31) or a placebo (n = 27).

Older individuals experience increased susceptibility and mortality to bacterial infections, but the underlying etiology remains unclear. Herein, it is shown that aging-associated reduction of commensal Parabacteroides goldsteinii (P. goldsteinii) in both aged mice and humans critically contributes to worse outcomes of bacterial infection.

Background: Patients with transplant-ineligible relapsed/refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (R/R DLBCL) have limited treatment options and poor outcomes.
Methods: This phase III study (NCT04236141) evaluated the efficacy and safety of polatuzumab vedotin plus bendamustine and rituximab (Pola+BR) versus BR in Chinese patients with transplant-ineligible R/R DLBCL to support regulatory submission in China. Patients were randomized 2:1 to receive Pola+BR or placebo+BR.

Objective: This retrospective study aimed to determine the need for lymph node resection during surgical treatment in patients with stage IA non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Materials And Methods: A total of 1428 patients diagnosed with cT1N0M0 1 A stage NSCLC who underwent surgery were divided into two groups: lymphadenectomy (n = 1324) and nonlymphadenectomy (n = 104). The effects of lymph node resection on overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) and on clinicopathological factors that affected the prognosis of the patients were investigated.
