Recently, microsporidiosis caused by a microsporidian [Ecytonucleospora (Enterocytozoon) hepatopenaei, EHP] has been found to seriously impact the global shrimp industry. The aim of this study was to evaluate the therapeutic effects of fumaric acid (FA) in EHP-infected Pacific white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei). In the first 2 groups, non-EHP-infected shrimp were fed FA-supplemented (10 g/kg diet) or normal feed (CM+ and CM-, respectively).

Microbial extracellular electron transfer (EET) drives various globally important environmental phenomena and has biotechnology applications. Diverse prokaryotes have been proposed to perform EET via surface-displayed "nanowires" composed of multi-heme cytochromes. However, the mechanism that enables only a few cytochromes to polymerize into nanowires is unclear.

Harmful algal blooms are a critical eco-environmental issue with severe impacts on aquatic ecosystems and human health. Tannic acid (TA) has been suggested as an effective algal bloom control, but the molecular mechanisms of its interaction with algae cells and its effects on algal toxin release remain unclear. This study tracked toxin production and release in the toxigenic species Microcystis aeruginosa (M.

Hydrogen production via electrocatalytic water splitting has garnered significant attention, due to the growing demand for clean and renewable energy. However, achieving low overpotential and long-term stability of water splitting catalysts at high current densities remains a major challenge. Herein, a CoP@CoNi layered double hydroxide (LDH) electrode was synthesized via a two-step electrodeposition process, demonstrating oxygen evolution reaction, with an overpotential (ƞ) of 373 mV and a Tafel slope of 64.
