Toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) is a devastating challenge faced by wound care practitioners. However, surgical management with amniotic membrane graft (AMG) promises better results in scar healing, but there is a lack of additional intervention to reduce the high mortality rate in those patients who are admitted with poor prognosis clinical situation. There is supportive evidence that combination therapy with AMG and early high-dose intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) as early management in TEN could improve the prognosis. In this study, the authors present a 61-year-old female who presented with a widespread macular lesion on the trunk, upper extremities, and face. The patient was treated with early amniotic membrane grafting and high-dose IVIG and achieved satisfactory results. Complete wound healing was achieved in 21 days. There were no acute or chronic complications, consisting of infection of the skin areas, gastrointestinal bleeding, pleural effusion, and severe ocular mucous membrane damage.

Introduction: Human amniotic membrane (hAM) has a highly biocompatible natural scaffold that is abundant in several extracellular matrix (ECM) components, including but not limited to platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor (TGF), and fibroblast growth factor (FGF). In our study, we have focused on a mixture of hAM and demineralized bone matrix (DBM) as an allo-hybrid graft to deliver it into the site of bone defect to decrease bone remodeling time.
Methods: Allo-hybrid grafts were prepared by coating the jelly made of decellularized and lyophilized hAM (AMJ) on the surface of DBM and subsequently underwent in vitro studies, such as alkaline phosphatase activity, MTT assay, and SEM analysis.

Background: Hypertrophic scar (HS) is a severe skin fibrosis. Transplanting stem cells carrying anti-fibrotic cytokine genes, like interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), is a novel therapeutic strategy. Human amniotic epithelial cells (hAECs) are ideal seed cells and gene vectors.

To report the cosmetic, clinical, and visual outcomes of a combined surgical approach for treating a corneal/limbal dermoid using excision and a three-layered amniotic membrane graft with fibrin glue. An 18-year-old female presented with impaired vision and ocular discomfort caused by a prominent dome-shaped limbal congenital dermoid on the inferotemporal cornea, resulting in a significant aesthetic concern. A full assessment, including refraction, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), corneal topography, aberrometry and anterior segment OCT (AS-OCT) was conducted to plan the surgical approach.

Unlabelled: Amniotic band syndrome is a constrictive phenomenon in fetal development that can provoke limb autoamputation, malformation, trunk division, and umbilical cord strangulation. The latter two complications will ultimately lead to fetal demise if left untreated. If detected early enough, select cases may benefit from prenatal resection of the amniotic bands, thus preventing amputation and fetal death.

Background/objectives: Preterm labor is a leading cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality worldwide. Previous research has indicated that an inflammatory response or microbial invasion of the amniotic cavity is a pathological condition linked to preterm birth; hence, inflammatory markers such as metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and interleukin-8 (IL-8) have been utilized to predict preterm delivery. The identification of reliable biomarkers for early prediction is critical for improving maternal, fetal, and neonatal outcomes.
