Background: This study aims to determine the uncommon causes of acute appendicitis in analyzed post appendectomy specimens.
Methods: Histopathology reports of 6785 removed appendices were analyzed retrospectively in order to confirm the uncommon cause of acute appendicitis in single tertiary institution.
Results: Unusual cause of acute appendicitis was found in 98 (1.44%) samples (40 female and rest 58 male patients). Neuroen-docrine tumor of the appendix was the most common pathology, followed by serrated adenoma, low-grade appendicular mucinous neoplasm, hyperplastic polyp, and intestinal parasite. In four patients (0.05%), appendicular adenocarcinoma was confirmed with an overall mortality of 75%. Age was significantly higher in uncommon acute appendectomies than in ordinary appendectomies. Survival analysis of unusual appendectomies showed that advanced age is of prognostic importance (Kaplan Meier p<0.0001). There was also a difference in survival between different disease groups in unusual appendectomies, but Cox multifactorial analysis showed that these two factors were not statistically significant.
Conclusion: Although rare, unusual causes are the etiological factor responsible for acute appendicitis. These reasons should be kept in mind in the older age group and the diagnosis of appendicitis should be made carefully.

Background And Objective: Invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) is an uncommon but serious disease associated with a risk of death and severe long-term sequelae, impacting both patients and their caregivers. Productivity losses due to IMD have not previously been comprehensively evaluated in the USA. This study evaluated both market and non-market productivity losses to better estimate the economic burden of IMD in the USA.

Description Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive disease characterized by gradual destruction and replacement of pulmonary parenchyma with fibrous tissue, which occurs in conjunction with chronic inflammation. It is often considered a prototypical interstitial lung disease and is both the most prevalent and perhaps the most dangerous in that family. Although the disease is uncommon in the general population, its prevalence increases with age and is typically diagnosed around the age of 65.

Malaria and filariasis are mosquito-borne diseases caused by protozoal and nematode parasites, respectively. Despite different vectors, they can occur together under suitable conditions in endemic regions. In our case, microfilariae were incidentally discovered during a blood film examination for malaria.

The concept of combat in space may appear to some as a future problem or a fictional concern; nevertheless, surgical preparation for injury or disease in even these unlikely or uncommon scenarios is prudent. The impact of distance, time, material, and capacity become acute in these settings. In addition to these challenges, the ability to conduct routine, emergent, anesthetics, and surgical care in null or microgravity complicates this further.

Background: Pseudoaneurysms are rare vascular lesions that can form following injury to an artery. Damage to the artery can result in a hematoma surrounded by a layer of coagulation products. Intracranial pseudoaneurysms are particularly uncommon, comprising less than 1% of all aneurysms, and are often associated with traumatic brain injuries.
