Schwannomas are the most common neurogenic tumours arising in the parapharyngeal space. Usually they arise from the vagus nerve but rarely have an extralaryngeal presentation arising from the superior laryngeal nerve. In the case reported here, cytology could not confirm the diagnosis and imaging could not identify the nerve of origin.

Background: Drug-induced hepatotoxicity, particularly from ethanol and acetaminophen (APAP), is a pressing global health challenge. This damage arises from oxidative stress and inflammation, manifesting as elevated liver enzymes and structural liver alterations. Resveratrol and silymarin, recognized for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, offer potential hepatoprotective benefits.

BACKGROUND The configuration of the hepatic arteries is known to vary substantially between individuals. Here, we report a rare retroperitoneal configuration of an accessory hepatic artery existing alongside a left and right hepatic artery branching from the proper hepatic artery. During routine dissection, we discovered an anomalous configuration of the hepatic arteries that does not fit the commonly used categorizations for abnormal hepatic vasculature.

Breaking Performance Barriers in KBe2BO3F2 (KBBF) Analogs by Functional Group Self-Polymerization.

Enhancing the conversion efficiency of all-solid-state lasers through the rational design of crystal materials with superior linear and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties remains a formidable challenge. Herein, we present a novel approach to optimizing these properties in KBe2BO3F2 (KBBF)-analog crystals via functional group self-polymerization. This strategy led to the synthesis of two new optical crystals: noncentrosymmetric CsAs2O3Br and centrosymmetric CsAs4O6Br.

The accumulation of abnormal phosphorylated Tau protein (pTau) in neurons of the brain is a pathological hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD). PTau pathology also occurs in the retina of AD cases. Accordingly, questions arise whether retinal pTau can act as a potential seed for inducing cerebral pTau pathology and whether retinal pTau pathology causes degeneration of retinal neurons.

An evaluation of sugemalimab for the treatment of relapsed or refractory extranodal natural killer T-cell lymphoma.

Department of Lymphoma/National Key Laboratory of Druggability Evaluation and Systematic Translational Medicine, Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute & Hospital, Tianjin, China.

Introduction: Relapsed or refractory extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (R/R ENKTL) is a rare and aggressive subtype arising from natural killer or cytotoxic T-cells, predominantly affecting the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses, lacking a standardized therapeutic approach. Sugemalimab, a fully human, full-length anti-PD-L1 immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4) monoclonal antibody (mAb), has been investigated in a Single-Arm, Multicenter, Phase II Study (GEMSTONE-201). The results demonstrated significant efficacy, favorable tolerability, and manageable adverse reactions of sugemalimab in R/R ENKTL.
