Objectives: Recent studies suggest that hearing loss is associated with balance dysfunction and an increased risk of falls. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether adults with unilateral hearing loss (UHL) have an underlying vestibular dysfunction and whether vestibular testing explains balance function and fall risk.
Study Design: Cross-sectional.

Background: Nonischemic cardiomyopathy (NICM) is responsible for approximately one-third of heart failure and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Recent data suggested the lack of mortality reduction from adding a defibrillator to cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) in all patients with NICM. Myocardial fibrosis detected by cardiac magnetic resonance late gadolinium enhancement (CMR-LGE) can help risk stratify patients who would benefit from adding a defibrillator to CRT in this patient population.

Background: Efficacy of Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD) implantation in both primary and secondary prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) in at-risk population is well established. ICD implantation rates remain low particularly in Africa with a paucity of data regarding factors associated with non-uptake.
Objectives: The primary study objective was to determine the factors associated with non-uptake of ICD among heart failure (HF) patients with reduced ejection fraction (EF<35%).
