Saffron () is widely used as an important herbal medicine crop worldwide. Iran is the largest producer and exporter of saffron in the world. (TuMV) is a species of the genus , which infects a wide range of plants species. During the autumn of 2019, saffron plants with symptoms including colour breaking of the flowers, chlorosis and mild mosaic of leaves were collected from the major saffron cultivation areas of Iran. After the isolation of total RNA from diseased samples, RT-PCR was done using TuMV-specific primers. Amplicons of two selected isolates were purified, cloned, and sequenced. BLASTn of obtained sequences indicated high similarity with TuMV sequences. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first finding of TuMV infection in the saffron plant of Iran.

Deep eutectic solvents are highly tailorable non-aqueous solvents with potential applications ranging from energy catalysis to cryopreservation. Self-assembled lipid structures are already used in a variety of industries including cosmetics, drug delivery and as microreactors. However, most research into lipid self-assembly has been limited to aqueous solvents.

Saffron has been traditionally used for various health benefits, but its effects on biomarkers of liver function, kidney function, and blood pressure in diabetes are not well understood. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the impact of saffron supplementation on systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), fasting blood glucose (FBG), liver enzymes (ALT, AST), and kidney function markers (BUN, creatinine) in patients with diabetes and prediabetes. A comprehensive search was conducted across multiple databases to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing saffron/crocin supplementation on glycemic control, hepatic and renal function, and blood pressure regulation in patients with diabetes and prediabetes.

Objective: Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of chronic joint disease, affecting mainly the elderly population. This disorder is caused by cartilage degeneration with complex changes in the chondrocyte phenotype. Inorganic pyrophosphate (PPi) was shown to counteract the detrimental effect of interleukin (IL)-1β challenging in an in vitro OA model based on rat articular chondrocytes.
