Lobular endocervical glandular hyperplasia (LEGH) is characterized by clinically profuse and watery vaginal discharge. In pregnancy with LEGH, with watery fluid leakage persisting throughout pregnancy, it is often difficult to visually diagnose PROM. Adding to this difficulty, auxiliary diagnostic tests might also show positive results, complicating treatment and management.

Purpose: To reveal problems of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for diagnosing gastric-type mucin-positive (GMPLs) and gastric-type mucin-negative (GMNLs) cervical lesions.

Methods: We selected 172 patients suspected to have lobular endocervical glandular hyperplasia; their pelvic MR images were categorised into the training (n = 132) and validation (n = 40) groups. The images of the validation group were read twice by three pairs of six readers to reveal the accuracy, area under the curve (AUC), and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC).

Purpose: The color of Papanicolaou-stained specimens is a crucial feature in cytology diagnosis. However, the quantification of color using digital images is challenging due to the variations in the staining process and characteristics of imaging equipment. The dye amount estimation of stained specimens is helpful for quantitatively interpreting the color based on a physical model.

Introduction: Although the widespread use of screening tests and HPV vaccines for squamous cell carcinoma has led to early detection and treatment, effectiveness is limited for cervical adenocarcinoma. Lobular endocervical glandular hyperplasia (LEGH) corresponds to gastric metaplasia, but is regarded as a pathological condition with subtle morphological abnormalities. LEGH is a benign lesion and a precursor to gastric-type adenocarcinoma.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the challenges of diagnosing and managing cervical lesions in patients with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS) by analyzing MRI features in relation to pathological types.
  • A total of 34 PJS patients were categorized into four groups based on their lesions, revealing significant differences in MRI characteristics, such as lesion extent and microcyst distribution.
  • A new grading system was developed from these MRI findings to help assess the potential malignancy of cervical lesions, aiming to improve treatment recommendations and enhance collaboration between healthcare professionals.

Article Synopsis
  • Reports have emerged about extra pelvic tumors, including breast cancer, spreading to the female genital tract.
  • A case is presented where lobular breast cancer showed up as unusual vaginal bleeding two years later, leading to a discovery of metastatic spread to the uterus.
  • Pathological testing confirmed that the source of the endometrial and endocervical issues was the previously diagnosed breast cancer.
