Objectives: This initiative assessed the integration of the Human Factors Analysis and Classification System, adapted from aviation, into emergency medicine morbidity and mortality rounds. The objective was to determine whether incorporating the Human Factors Analysis and Classification System could lead to a perceived increase in the overall quality of morbidity and mortality presentations through the standardization of classifying cause factors of medical errors.
Methods: This study involved eight emergency medicine residents who applied the adapted Human Factors Analysis and Classification System framework to their morbidity and mortality case presentations over 6 months.

Histiocytic sarcoma (HS) is a rare yet lethal malignancy with no established standard of care therapies. A lack of pre-clinical models limits our understanding of HS pathogenesis and identification of therapeutic targets. Canine HS shares multiple clinical and genetic similarities with human HS, supporting its use as a unique translational model.

Background: Glial cells exhibit distinct transcriptional responses to β-amyloid pathology in Alzheimer's disease (AD). While sophisticated single-cell based methods have revealed heterogeneous glial subpopulations in the human AD brain, the histological localization of these multicellular responses to AD pathology has not been fully characterized due to the loss of spatial information. Here, we combined spatial transcriptomics (ST) with immunohistochemistry to explore the molecular mechanisms in the neuritic plaque niche.

Background: Grid cells are spatially modulated cells in the entorhinal cortex (EC) that fire in a hexagonally patterned grid which tiles the environment. These cells are assumed important in human spatial navigation. The EC is vulnerable to neurodegenerative processes in both normal aging and Alzheimer's disease and decline in grid cell function may be a key factor in understanding age-related navigational decline.
