Several areas of the world suffer a notably high incidence of Shiga toxin-producing . To assess the impact of persistent cross-species transmission systems on the epidemiology of O157:H7 in Alberta, Canada, we sequenced and assembled O157:H7 isolates originating from collocated cattle and human populations, 2007-2015. We constructed a timed phylogeny using BEAST2 using a structured coalescent model.

The epigenetic state of chromatin, gene activity and chromosomal positions are interrelated in plants. In Arabidopsis thaliana, chromosome arms are DNA-hypomethylated and enriched with the euchromatin-specific histone mark H3K4me3, while pericentromeric regions are DNA-hypermethylated and enriched with the heterochromatin-specific mark H3K9me2. We aimed to investigate how the chromosomal location affects epigenetic stability and gene expression by chromosome engineering.

A large proportion of genetic variations involved in complex diseases are rare and located within noncoding regions, making the interpretation of underlying biological mechanisms a daunting task. Although technical and methodological progress has been made to annotate the genome, current disease-rare-variant association tests incorporating such annotations suffer from two major limitations. First, they are generally restricted to case-control designs of unrelated individuals, which often require tens or hundreds of thousands of individuals to achieve sufficient power.

Mosquito-borne diseases have wreaked havoc on human health, with consequences dramatically increasing in recent years. The incidence of mosquito-borne diseases is closely linked to the locations that are chosen for urban development. The aim of this study was to provide characteristics of mosquito breeding sites in northern and southern China and to document the most important arbovirus vectors found in the study area, the evidence generated here is critical for early prevention and control inter ventions.
