Background: Acromioclavicular (AC) joint cysts are relatively rare. There are two distinct etiologies of AC cysts. Type 1 is isolated to the AC joint, while type 2, is related to a tear or rupture of the rotator cuff (RC). The disease is usually a rare result of advanced AC joint arthritis or RC-tear arthropathy. Patients may present with signs and symptoms of RC impingement and tear. Conservative management may be used initially in asymptomatic individuals who are also not concerned with cosmesis. Aspiration and steroid injection of the cyst has been reported as one method of non-surgical management of these lesions, however, there is a high rate of recurrence.

Case Presentation: We report a case of A 72-year-old right-handed female with past medical history of type two diabetes mellitus, chronic smoking, and a prior right RC repair with distal clavicle resection who presented with an AC joint cyst complicated by a draining fistula as a result of cyst aspiration and steroid injection. Due to the persistent drainage of the cyst and concern for infection, the patient was treated with a staged reverse shoulder arthroplasty given the setting of an irreparable rotator cuff tear and end-stage cuff-tear arthropathy.

Conclusion: This case demonstrates an important complication of persistent draining fistula resulting from AC joint cyst aspiration and steroid injection in the setting of advanced RC-tear arthropathy. In immunocompromised patients, staged reverse shoulder arthroplasty should be considered for treatment of these draining fistulas especially when the concern for periprosthetic infection is high.

3D MFA: An automated 3D Multi-Feature Attention based approach for spine segmentation using a multi-stage network pruning.

Spine segmentation poses significant challenges due to the complex anatomical structure of the spine and the variability in imaging modalities, which often results in unclear boundaries and overlaps with surrounding tissues. In this research, a novel 3D Multi-Feature Attention (MFA) model is proposed for spine segmentation. The standard MobileNetv3 is modified by adding the RCBAM (Reverse Convolution Block Attention Module) module, and FPP (Feature Pyramid Pooling) for feature enhancement.

Background: Recent studies suggest a contribution of intrahepatic mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) activation to the development of cirrhosis. As MR blockade abrogates the development of cirrhosis and hypoxia, common during the development of cirrhosis, can activate MR in hepatocytes. But, the impact of non-physiological hepatic MR activation is unknown.

Background: Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG) relieves physical and psychological stress symptoms in nurses who exposed to nurse-to-nurse horizontal violence (HV), has great intervention potential to reverse the negative effects of HV events. Therefore, in-depth exploration of the overall characteristics of PTG in HV-exposed nurses and its influencing factors are of great practical significance to provide them with precise psychological adaptive interventions.

Objective: This study aims to describe the current state of PTG of HV-exposed nurses and its influencing factors.

Background & Aims: HBV-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF) is a severe acute liver injury secondary to HBV-related chronic liver disease (with or without cirrhosis) and is characterized by a high short-term mortality rate. Presently, there is a paucity of experimental models that specifically focus on HBV-ACLF based on chronic hepatitis B. Therefore, this study aimed to establish an experimental mouse model of HBV-ACLF using chronic hepatitis B (CHB) as a basis and investigate the impact of STING activation on the disease.

[Epigenetics and cancer: the role of DNA methylation].

Alterations in DNA methylation profiles are typically found in cancer cells, combining genome-wide hypomethylation with hypermethylation of specific regions, such as CpG islands, which are normally unmethylated. Driving effects in cancer development have been associated with alteration of DNA methylation in certain regions, inducing, for example, the repression of tumor suppressor genes or the activation of oncogenes and retrotransposons. These alterations represent prime candidates for the development of specific markers for the detection, diagnosis and prognosis of cancer.
