The Wittenberg physician Konrad Victor Schneider (1614-1680) was the first to prove that mucus is not formed in the brain, nor is it secreted into the nasal cavity via the ethmoid bone. He recognised that there is no open anatomical connection between the brain and the nasal air space. Schneider discovered the sinonasal mucosa as the production site of mucus and thus refuted the hypothesis of cerebral mucus production and secretion by Hippocrates, Galen and Vesal. The nasal mucosa was named "membrana Schneideria" in honour of Schneider.

Background: It is unclear whether targeted monitoring of acute adrenal insufficiency (AI) related adverse events (AE) such as sick day episodes (SDEs) and hospitalization rate in congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is associated with a change in the occurrence of these events.
Aim: Study temporal trends of AI related AE in the I-CAH Registry.
Methods: In 2022, data on the occurrence of AI-related AE in children aged <18 years with 21-hydroxylase deficiency CAH were compared to data collected in 2019.

Studies of light-induced demagnetization started with the experiment performed by Beaupaire et al. on Ni. Here, we present theoretical predictions for X-ray induced demagnetization of nickel, with X-ray photon energies tuned to its [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] absorption edges.

Fish are the most species-rich vertebrate group, displaying vast ecological, anatomical and behavioural diversity, and therefore are of major interest for the study of behaviour and its evolution. However, with respect to other vertebrates, fish are relatively underrepresented in psychological and cognitive research. A greater availability of easily accessible, flexible, open-source experimental platforms that facilitate the automation of task control and data acquisition may help to reduce this bias and improve the scalability and refinement of behavioural experiments in a range of different fish species.
