Background: Sleep deficiency is associated with an increased risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD), warranting research on underlying mechanisms. This study examined the association of sleep architecture with anatomical features frequently observed in AD: (1) atrophy of cuneus, hippocampus, entorhinal, inferior parietal, parahippocampal, and precuneus regions (henceforth referred to as "AD-vulnerable regions") and (2) the presence of cerebral microbleeds.

Method: In 271 participants of the Atherosclerosis Risk in the Communities Study, we examined the prospective association of baseline sleep architecture with anatomical features of the brain identified on MRI conducted ∼17 years later.

Background: Diabetes, a chronic metabolic disease leading to damage to multiple organs and the nervous system, is associated with cognitive decline. Moreover, Vitamin D (VD) insufficiency/deficiency is implicated as a risk factor for diabetes. However, the specifics of the relationships between these variables remain unclear.

Background: Autophagy-lysosomal pathway (ALP) dysfunction emerges early in Alzheimer's disease(AD). In mouse AD models, lysosomal acidification deficits impair ALP in neurons, in some inducing massive autolysosome accumulations, intraneuronal amyloid plaque, and early neuronal death yielding an extracellular amyloid plaque. This distinctive neurodegenerative pattern (PANTHOS) emerges in early-stage AD and is recapitulated in human late-onset AD (accompanying poster).

Background: Lingual taste cells (LTCs) are taste buds' sensory cells that modulate gustation. This study's aim is to assess whether it can be successfully implanted in hippocampus, modulating learning and memory deficits observed in Alzheimer's Dementia (AD).

Methods: Retrospective trials on rodents i.
